Embryonic Stem Cell Research Is A Growing Complication
Over the past couple years, scientist have continued research on embryonic stem cells, but there is still lots of controversy that accompanies this research. While research has grown to be more successful, it has also become more difficult to face controversies. These controversies mostly consist of funding and issues of differing moralities. There have been projects where funding was pulled because of people’s believing in different moralities and not having money to support the research. For example, the California-based biotechnology lab, Geron, did not have support and therefore “After many false starts… firm Geron pulled the plug on all of it’s embryonic stem cell research” (Cook). …show more content…

People have different opinions and argue over the right and wrong. Society is constantly asking the ethical question that opposes the safety of the research. The general public wants to know that “under what conditions and restrictions” is embryonic stem cell researchers are considering, in order to proceed with the research (Guido de Wert). People feel the need to feel safe, leading to some complications of where people feel unsafe and at risk with this research. When someone strongly disagrees they will make assumptions that then make others feel uncomfortable. For instance an article I found while doing my own research states that “ we still do not have in hand a pluripotent stem cell (PSC) that can be safely and efficiently employed to regenerate damaged tissues and organs” (Ratajczak). We can’t prove that this is true unless scientist can make their lab reports are understandable and if we don’t have the right supplies this becomes more difficult. With enough financial support scientist are able to get the correct materials needed for research. With the right supplies scientist can accomplish successful
