Characters. The characters dynamics also helped the movie to become a success. For Phoenix and Spartan, they can be considered the perfect representation of the different end of "law enforcement": one is disrespecting the law (Phoenix) and the one who respects the law (Spartan). In the movie, we saw the impact of abusing the use of law to the point that it's not good for the subordinates anymore, and we also saw the impact of not following the law that harmed a lot of innocent people. They also have a different point of view when it comes to the illusion that Cocteau has built into their society. Cocteau framed the minds of the individuals that he's innocent and that the separation of rich and poor is clearly distinct. When Phoenix and Spartan realized this absurd reality, they reacted differently to each other. Of course, Morality will play into hand. Different reactions are expected to be saw, since they are framed in different environments, for Spartan (nature of law) and Phoenix (lawlessness). Phoenix kills, curses, blows up, and disregarded every single rule that was initiated by Cocteau. Associate Bob and Cocteau is completely boss-secretary relationship. After Cocteau died, because of Phoenix, Associate Bob rapidly changes sides. It only shows that regardless of what you believe in, in the Utopian Society the only division of the people are leaders and followers.
