I think it’s safe to say that technology fits perfectly within that grey area, it isn’t simply black and white. Technology is not just a tool for the rich or the gain of power hungry leaders, and at the same time it’s not just something that is for the betterment of mankind. The wonderful thing about science fiction is how often it draws parallels from the time it was written or made. Director Andrew Niccol certainly has depicted the gap technology has brought between the rich and poor in his film In Time (2011), in which the human race has the ability to live an exceptional long and youthful life, but the rich wield this long life while the poor simply die young.
