Driving to work in your car you see traffic starting to back up which is not good, because you’re already running a little behind. A sign reads “left lane open, only.” Slowly making your way along you see the cause; An accident. Four cars piled up, and there are numerous emergency vehicles present. It looks bad. Finally breaking through, you make it in to work to turn on the news to find out the accident was caused by a driver texting on their cell phone. Two fatalities and three were rushed to the hospital under serious conditions. Unfortunately, this depiction occurs more than often you may see or hear and needs to be stopped. Drivers that divert their awareness — whether it’s to talk on their cell phone or send text messages to their friends — risk the lives of the other drivers on the road. Distracted driving is especially dangerous because, whereas drunk driving usually occurs at night, automobile accidents caused by distracted drivers can all day. It’s a scary thought. Another major type of distraction is eating in your car while driving; you are focusing on your food and not on the road. Also, drivers who engage more frequently in distracted driving are more likely to be involved in an automobile accident or near-crash Focus is the number one attribute drivers need while operating a motor vehicle. In order to text or dial a phone number requires visual interaction with the cellular phone meaning that the driver would need to take their eyes off of the road. Each day our civilization is given a fresh new chances to improve our lives. The choices we make weather minuet or enormous can not only impacted us but others as well. To insure the safety and wellbeing of ourselves, loved ones and the people in our community’s certain decisions have to be responsibly made. Distracted driving is a prime example of being irresponsible when the lives of the driver and others are at stat. One quick glance at a texted massage can cause multiple fatalities leading to pain and suffering for the surviving loved ones of the victim and distracted driver. Even without fatalities or injury distracted driving has cause hundreds of accidence leading to unnecessary spending for emergency resources, i.e. police and ambulances calls. Simple choices
