Ryan Polakow 11P 1) In the Binge Drinking videos it shows us how the end of a night after drinking would look like. It reverses the experience one would have. We do not start our night’s paralytic, vomiting and going crazy so why would we want to end in that way. The videos show us a boy and a girl acting absolutely mental. This is the sad reality of when one comes back from a night of drinking. You lose touch with reality. 2) It shows us the reality of what alcohol does to us leaving us with a thought of disgust and discomfort. It really questions the viewer’s beliefs and values as why would one want to ever look like this or act in these ways. You need to consider your values before drinking as once you are drunk you self respect goes …show more content…
These drugs can affect you almost instantaneously and cause victims to become weak, confused and even pass out. The victim will not remember what happened while on these drugs. These date rape drugs, when taken, can also cause seizures and even death. Date rape drugs are also called “club drugs” as people in a nightclub or on the dance floor most often use them. They come in many forms such as powders, liquids or pills. There is a massive connection between date rape drugs and alcohol. Once you are intoxicated with alcohol your brain no longer functions normally and you become very vulnerable to illogical and irrational behavior. Alcohol can also be considered as a date rape drug because alcohol affects your judgment and behavior and can be used side by side with the date rape drug to help commit a sexual assault. One you are intoxicated with alcohol someone can effortlessly slip a pill, powder or liquid into your drink without you even taking note of what has happened. These drugs have no colour, smell or taste of any sort so you would not even be aware of what has happened and will not remember what has happened to
What is date rape? Is date rape different from rape? In a traditional date, a man and a woman meet for dinner and hope that it goes well so they can continue to see each other. In some cases, things go terribly wrong causing law enforcement to get involved. According to Paglia, all women have want men want. Thus, we must be extremely careful when meeting someone for the first time, as we do not know if we can yet trust. We cannot trust that they will not place a drug in our drink when we go to the restroom. Some may argue that men should be taught to never to that to a woman. But shouldn’t a woman be taught to not leave a drink unattended during a date or during a party?
Every semester, a student attending a college campus will have at some point experience some inappropriate, unwanted attention. There is always someone at school who tends to make someone uncomfortable, be it through eye contact, persistent advances, or just uncalled for innuendos. Of course, we do our best to ignore it, or to just report the bothersome activity, but that can only do so much without someone finding a way around such things. Someone is always going the extra mile to get what he or she wants, even if it’s at the expense of the victim. We can’t turn a blind eye on our friends, our family, or our associates in these dark, sexual assault situation. Campus sexual assault is a problem with plenty of factors regarding it.
Sex trafficking is a human right issue which breaks the slavery violation in the UDHR. It 's going on in many countries like Thailand and is happening to young children. This should be stopped because its inhuman and no child or person should have to go through it.
At the party women will act out in a sexually way and want to compete with the men and their drinking habits. A study of 992 college freshmen were followed over two years, researchers found that “women were more likely to exceed the weekly guidelines than men” (Koebler para. 3). That shows that binge drinking with women is increasing rapidly where the rates are about equal to the men. The narration and interviews of the women's perspective adds to whole movie.
What is sexual assault? Sexual assault is, “any type of sexual contact or behavior that occurs without the explicit consent of the recipient. Falling under the definition of sexual assault are sexual activities as forced sexual intercourse, forcible sodomy, child molestation, incest, fondling, and attempted rape” (Sexual Assault).
Boy advert: alcohol activates his self-inflicting, aggressive and unappealing behavior and he appears totally unaware of his actions and their consequences i.e. ripping out his earring. 2. Firstly, I think the beliefs and values of a person are connected. After watching these videos, the beliefs and values of the viewer most definitely differ to the one’s they had before. Beliefs: the viewer would now understand and believe the consequences of alcohol
What this reveals is that there is evidence that alcohol is causing much more damage than any of the other illicit drugs, in spite of the fact that many countries and jurisdiction had attempted to make alcohol an illicit substance, as mentioning the alcohol Prohibition era in the US in the earlier days reveals. After the Prohibition was lifted its use was somehow regulated, whereas a few communities had prohibited its sale totally till date, even if smuggling it into any community illegally is still possible. What ensued gradually is accepting the fact that alcohol might not be evil or bad but those who are using it should apply some kind a discipline and self control so that its use will not get out of hand as shown in the movie from what happened to
“I heard Sarah f****** George at Anna’s party, LMFAO what a slut!” was what someone posted anonymously on the application “Yik Yak.” Was is true? Of course not, but what if it was? Why would me having sex with another individual make a slut? Whenever I would even sit next to a guy people would think I was trying to seduce him and eventually have sex with him. If I wore shorts that looked “too short” I would get stared down and get comments that I dress slutty. Do you want to experience the shaming? Easy! Bat your eyelashes, wear something tight, and talk in a flirty voice, that is, if you’re ready to be called a slut. While you’re at it, hang out with some guys, and maybe even make some physical contact, a tap on the shoulder should be more
Sexual assault is an offense that plagues many U.S. citizens. Although some studies show that rape is on the decline, other studies report that the phenomena actually occuring is that less rape victims are reporting the crime. In fact, approximately 68% of sexual assaults go unreported to the police according to the U.S. Department of Justice in a National Crime Victimization Survey from 2008-2012. It is common knowledge that rape victims are usually severely traumatized after the event, which leaves them susceptible to various emotions such as shame, anxiety, numbness, fear, denial, and guilt. Because of this, many rape victims decide to repress their experience and let it go unheard. However, not only does this prevent them from healing emotionally,
There are so many things that I have never found really interesting to me or at least something that could make me want to try and change it. I still don’t understand why people want to hurt kids. This is not something that should be a norm in our culture, but it is. This should be changed instead of just letting it happen sure it is going to be hard to charge, but there are still things that we can do to help kids that have gone through it and their parents. It also does depend on who abused them then they can go to jail. There are still things that we do not have a real understanding as to what sexual abuse is in general. It is not a well-known topic unless some has been abused. We assume that the victim is to blame them for what happened to them, but it is not their fault. We blame people because we do not want to see the perpetrator as the one who should be in trouble. In this case we do not have the knowledge as to what sexual abuse really is. The definition of sexually abuse is a sex act that is non-consensual and this could be anything. This does not mean that consensual sex is
imagine that you live in a world that you couldn 't just say no. Where you were forced to do things that you didn 't want to do. Imagine that just because you said no, that wasn 't enough. That you were worthless, that what you say not matter. This is how 293,066 Americans feel per year(“How often does sexual assault occur?”).They are victims of sexual assaults, there refusal wasn 't enough for someone to stop. No one can truly understand how these people felt until they realize what the problem is, why it 's happening and some solutions to the problem.
Alcohol is a very serious and dangerous drug, although it is not treated this way anymore. College students have taken drinking to a new level in which, for many, is very scary. Alcohol is much more dangerous than many would think. Kids see a night of drinking as a great way to have fun and party but do not see the consequences. Getting drunk and even blacking out can lead to many problems. When alcohol is consumed in unhealthy amounts, it can lead to not only short-term effects, but long-term ones as well.
There is no one direct cause of date rape. Although there are usually three key elements involved, socialization, miscommunication, and/or changing sexual mores. In a general sense, traditional male and female roles in society are part of the problem. Men are taught at a very early age to be aggressors; they participate in aggressive team sports, are encouraged to be competitive, not to give up, to keep on trying. They are encouraged to have strong sexual feelings and to experiment with their sexual satisfaction as a part of their masculinity. This environment which encourages men to be competitive and get what they want often leads to a belief in the "right to have sex." Women on the other hand are socialized to be more passive, dependent,...
The consumption of alcohol during social events is prevalent in society. When a group of adults have a party or get together there is almost always alcohol present such as at the bowling alley, where they sell multiple bottles of beer in a bucket. Adults tend to invite their other adult friends to a football game party and they drink too much, and due to the adverse effect of alcohol consumption, drunk driving takes a life in the United States every twenty-two minutes. In Christian’s to Recovery, : “The damage caused by alcohol impaired drivers is the same as if a Boeing 747 with over 500 passengers crashed every eight days killing everyone,” (CR, “Impacts”) Children know just how much their parents or parent drinks, and for that very reason alcohol shoul...
The glamorous side of sex is everywhere; music, tv shows, movies and social media. To a mature adult, it is easy to ignore the sexual messages in those outlets. However, to a teenager, going through mental and physical changes and peer pressure, it is extremely easy to fall for what is shown to “cool.” Everyone has fallen for half truths to be cool in their teenage life. It just so happens that teen pregnancies and STDs are not one of those things that one can simply walk away from. Babies and STDs leave a lasting effect on everyone involved. The National Conference of State Legislatures states:
