Children's Screen Time Can be Important Ever wake up early on saturday and flick on the tv qnd see whatever terrible cartoons they put on? It was definitly better as a kid. Children eat this stuff up, and to be fair thats their target audience. TV or screens in general gives kids a way to stay occupied, It's better than the alternative, trust me on that one. Childrens viewing time shouldn't be limited by parents on anybody for that matter, it should be controlled by their own imagination, because it's not bad for them, they get to relax and unwind while still learning, and certain things such as videogames, are good because it improves rapid, snap thinking, hand eye coordination, and problem solving. Studies that found that watching too much tv leads to weak executive funtion, lower test scores, and obesity, leave out the information that doesnt fit their agenda. Kids who watch more TV tend to have the same demographic factors that are proven to create the same concerns of lower test scores, obeisity, and lower executive funtions. I'll say it. Being a kid is hard. They're thrown into the fire from the time their born, trying to discover the world. Watching TV helps them with that. It gives them a chance to rest and relax while staying occupied and learning. I remember when I was younger I'd watch shows such as Mythbusters and Dirty Jobs to learn. Those two shows shaped a good portion of who I am today. Mythbusters gave me a love of science while Dirty Jobs gave me perspective into the working world. Take that away and i wouldnt have learned nearly as much in life so far. People who don't play video games are nine times out of ten going to judge you for even letting your kids play video games, don't be that person.
