Have you ever wondered why kids on their devices are more bratty or less cooperative than the rest? Well, it is due to their too much time spent on electronics. Therefore, there should be a two-hour recommendation for screen time.
Spending time in front of electronics is taking away kids abilities to express their emotions. There has been a study published that sixth graders who spent five days were significantly better at reading emotions than kids who spent time on electronics. There were showed pictures of fifty faces, which were all showing different emotions, the kids who had been not on electronics were able to identify the emotions far better than the other kids. That was only five days, imagine what results would be shown in more than that amount."When babies are babies, they're learning about human interaction with face-to-face time and with speaking to parents and having things they say modeled back to them," she says. In contradiction, watching TV at such a young age has its disadvantages. Greenfield also thinks that families should make a plan for their kids on how much screen time should be allowed. Even if it isn’t two hours, having a limit still helps control screen time. This can be helpful also for kids to learn how to take directions. If their parent says, “Bobby time to get off the computer”, they will learn how to listen to that and become more cooperative. Watching TV at a young age may benefit some learning areas, however, limiting your child’s screen time will teach them the lessons of patience, cooperation, and listening to others. Those are skills that are far more valuable than learning your shapes or colors, that someone cannot learn on television.
