At this point in the book Ralph called everyone together to redefine how their temporary society would work until they were rescued. A few lines above this quote ralph says how things were going great but then people started to get frightened. This quote uses personification when it says fear can’t hurt you it is implying how fear can’t physically hurt you but it can even bring you closer together when interpreted correctly and constructively but when there is no one to help you through it, it can cause things to unravel because it makes people start to panic and start thinking impulsively.
In conclusion, by reading the Novel by William Golding titled The Lord of The Flies we encountered many different forms of fear being from the beast, the loss of humanity, and the fear of realization. These forms of fear relate only to this novel but, many feelings these boys on the island felt we feel time and time again in our everyday society. Everyone on this earth comes to grasp with a time of fear in their lives and it is up to oneself if they are too choose to be strong and persevere or to be a cowards and let fear over power them. Ralph was a boy, a scared and broken young little boy but, as he stood on that beach and watched the rover appear he broke down and let the fear of never having peace take control of him. So I will leave you with one last thought, will you let fear overpower you? or will you persevere?
This quote is significant because it represents what Jack is and what he has done. Ralph calls Jack these names before they lose their temper and are about to fight. In this quote, Ralph has called Jack out, that he is the reason of all the misfortune that has happened on the island and that he is the beast. That he was the reason of all this savagery and that he caused the evil within the boys, he brought it on through his need for leadership and his want for hunting and killing. Ralph calls him a thief and a swine because of his behaviour towards Piggy. He stole his glasses and turned all the boys against Ralph and Piggy who were the only good people on the island. As well as for making the island a fearful place for the boys. I feel that Ralph is right in everything he has said to Jack. He created the fear on the island all because of his need to be chief. As well as turned everyone against each other at the ending of the novel.
Freedom is a fragile effect on human nature, and it allows humans to expose their inner thoughts and true feelings. William Golding's Lord of The Flies depicts scenes of disagreement and anger, which adds emotion to the book. Throughout the novel, three major characters all portray aspects of humans in the real world.
In the Lord of the Flies the littluns share a big role. One of the main importances is that the littluns provide situations and are able to interact with the bigger kids. They seem to be the followers in the novel. There trying to mind their own business but also help and do what they can do for survival.
Goldings ideology is first shown through the character Piggy’s attitude and mindset. Piggy has demonstrated that he is the most mature out of all the boys through the way in which he expresses himself and the concern that he has towards the boys’ needs. This statement is supported by Piggy’s statement “ ‘Like kids!’ he said scornfully ‘Acting like a crowd of kids’ ” (pg.38). Here Piggy demonstrates a part of him that makes him bitter and rude. Although Piggy is a kid himself, he gets upset at the boys on the island and yells out “like kids”. This statement shows that Piggy believes that he is superior to the boys on the island and believes that they should
Roger has shaped his identity throughout the book by doing actions to form his new cruel, violent identity. Roger has done things such as throw and release rocks at two boys, and then viciously hunting a pig and killing him.
Ralph’s power at the beginning is secure but as the group succumbs to their savage instincts, Ralph’s influence declines as Jack’s rises. This is due mainly to the cruelty and violence that goes on in the story. This cruelty reveals that Ralph’s commitment to civilization and being rescued is so strong that he will not allow himself to change his morals and become cruel like the others. The cruelty in this novel also shows that Ralph is a very intelligent character. His intelligence can be proven because there was a point in the novel when he hunts a boar for the first time and he experiences the thrill of bloodlust. He also attends one of Jack’s feast where he is swept away by the frenzy and participates in the killing of Simon. This is a very tragic moment for Ralph because this is when he realizes the evil that lives within himself and every human being. It is the cruel acts that happen in this novel that reveals Ralph’s character of being intelligent and being able to think deeply about human experiences. Certain traits that a person owns can be defined by an independent archetype or, in many cases, multiple. The seeker, the sage, and the innocent, can particularly make up an individual that is loved by some, hated by many, enjoying life too much to live vicariously through people’s words and care about anything but himself.
Mankind is innately evil. The allegorical novel, The Lord of the Flies, allows for little interpretation about human nature. William Golding depicts the idea, “evil is an inborn trait of man” (Golding). Throughout the novel the children who have crash landed on the island begin to uncover their savage nature. Although all of the children somehow succumb to a heinous behaviour, Jack, Ralph, and Roger become most noticeably corrupt. Ultimately, it becomes clear that malicious intent is intrinsic in mankind.
A group of kids got stuck on an island after their plane got shot down and they all have many different personalities. Being stuck on an island usually brings out the worst of people.But, there were two characters in novel, “The Lord of The Flies” that had good morals. These two characters were Ralph and Simon. Ralph and Simon weren’t intimidated by not having any adults around, instead, they tried to bring out the best of themselves and not take part in any horseplay the rest of the boys did.
The Lord of the Flies by William Golding is a peculiar story about boys stranded on an island, and the plot and characters relate to many prevailing events and problems. A specific problem that is currently occurring is the mutual hatred and enmity between North Korea and South Korea. This is a current event, but the North and South’s hostility has been ongoing since 1945, when Korea was split into North and South, Communist and Capitalist. When the 38th parallel(Border between North and South Korea) was created, Kim Il-Sung ruled the North, and Syngman Rhee ruled the South. As of now, a power hungry dictator, Kim Jong-un rules the north, and an optimistic president who wants to see change was recently elected in the South, named Moon Jae-in. In Golding’s book, Ralph is a character who aimed to keep everyone alive and to stay together. Jack on the other hand, wanted to have fun and hunt, and although he also wanted to be rescued, he made no effort to help. In this sense, North Korea is a clear representation of the character Jack and his quest for power, and opposingly, South Korea is a representation of Ralph and his strive for order, democracy, and civilization.
The use of imagery in this passage of the novel conveys a more profound meaning and deviates from only visually illustrating a scenery. After the Lord of the Flies makes it known to Simon of the true nature of the beast, the setting where Simon is in is described that "For a moment or two the forest and all the other dimly appreciated places echoed with the parody of laughter" (Golding 147). The island is the environment where the elimination of a civilized structure took place, thus indicating how the island was one of the causes behind evil and therefore evil itself. This phrase appeared in a situation where Simon had been challenged to face his own battle between a civilized and a savage world, and the island emphasizes the feeling that

He knows that finding the beast will provide the entire group of boys with emotional security due to the fact that they will literally face their ultimate fear: the beast. Because Ralph values the emotional security of the group of boys, he serves as father-figure. He symbolizes someone who will always be looking out for his peers, through thick and thin, just as any father would.
Ralph tries to recreate society and what is socially acceptable, but with the human nature comes animal like behavior which is what happens to them. People tend to be more controlled by society rather than the people controlling who faces society, in fact more women and men are changing who they are rather than accepting it.
