Technology has become very popular over the years. It has become very popular among many age groups that nowadays, many want a personal device not because one is in need of one, but because it would be considered unnatural to not have one. Devices like these such as cell phones, apple watches, tablets, etc. have developed greatly over time and have transformed majorly in a way that makes them more and more appealing to the eye. Although devices like these will often be attracting to one, they are not the best choice for all age groups. Saying this, personal technology such as cell phones, tablets, or apple watches are not appropriate for all ages because it may ruin ones social skills, lead one to unsafety, and affect one’s education. To begin with, personal technology is ruining one’s social skills due to the popularity of texting. Texting has become very popular among age groups. It is a fast and easy source of communication. It can be done anywhere at any time and can be done in a matter of minutes. Texting is convenient and the new normal. One may say that if not texting one’s social status may decrease. People would rather communicate through a mobile device rather than to talk face to face. According to Melissa Niles in her article titled “Technology is Destroying the Quality of Human Interaction” she states “Little by little, Internet and mobile technology seems to be subtly destroying the meaningfulness of interactions we have with others, disconnecting us from the world around us, and leading to an imminent sense of isolation in today’s society."
