Paper One: My Professional Goals
We each come from a distinct background and have had many different life experiences; sharing our professional goals on learning allows us to share where we come from with each other and what we wish to become, which in turn enables us to realize that where there are multiple experiences, there are multiple points of view, and multiple destination. At the same time, we are deeply influenced by our cultural heritage and the environment that surrounds us, which also directs our path; we need to connect ourselves with the world around us in order to understand our place in that world, to learn how and what we can offer to help others, and to learn that we are not alone. In today’s rapidly increasing technological and post-modern environment where we are constantly being called upon to quickly grasp, rearrange, create and integrate new devices, ideas, and concepts that harmonize and fuses many different backgrounds …show more content…

There I observed the OT evaluating adult patients and creating and implementing treatment plans. I watched OTs working with special needs children to develop and implement treatment plans; which included activities to address fine and gross motor deficits for teaching ADL skills. I learned first-hand that working with these patients can be emotionally and physically trying at times. However, observing how the OTs makes a difference in the lives of these clients gave me great inspiration, which is why I wish to study occupational therapy. I am confident that my personal, educational, and instructional background has prepared me for a University program that will provide me with the quality resources, peer companionship, and professional mentorship that will inspire me far into the future. As an education plan I would choose some occupational therapy program such as OTCAS or Alvernia
