The Occupational Therapy Practice Framework: Domain and Process (OTPF) serves as a reference point for occupational therapists when evaluating a person’s daily life within the various aspects of occupational therapy. All of the aspects listed in the domain of the OTPF (occupations, client factors, performance skills, performance patterns, and context and environments) are related, dependent, and can effect on one another. Looking back on recent years in my life, I can see just how much my occupations have changed as well as the way I view what is important in my life. In my daily life I engage in various habits, routines, and roles. Some of my daily habits include: setting my alarm clock the night before, saying goodbye to my family when I leave every morning, drinking an iced coffee every morning, and calling my parents and boyfriend during lunch. Some of my daily routines include: going to the restroom when I wake up, brushing my teeth, getting dressed, eating breakfast, going to work, eating lunch, going to the gym, eating dinner, and going to sleep. My daily roles include being a daughter, sister, girlfriend, co-worker, friend, therapist, and educator. It is important for a person to have habits, routines, and roles in their lives because it give that person meaning and a sense of being organized and timely. I feel good knowing that I follow a schedule every day. Events are predictable and I know what I am supposed to do next. Referring to the five domains and the process of occupational therapy help occupational therapists complete a comprehensive and cohesive evaluation. This evaluation will not only identify what a person cannot do, but what they can do and how to find a balance between the two. By applying the OTPF to my daily life as it stands today, I have learned not only about my strengths but also what I can improve on in order to make myself a more well rounded and complete
