Personal Statement

Every now and then when I recall my childhood memories, it is always been my parents took me to the hospital in the middle of the night or tried to find the right doctor for my allergies. Others could just take some medication and rest for few days for common cold, but my story is totally different. A common cold could cause me allergies, asthma and fever when I was young. It is the reason why I spent most of my time seeing the doctor and stayed at hospital. At the age of 10, my parents decided to have me switched to oriental medicine and acupuncture. Although I hated the taste of the Chinese medicine and was really afraid of the needle, those methods really helped my body. I was able to act like normal child after few years of acupuncture and oriental medicine treatment. It is why I always wrote about how I want to become a good doctor whenever I had to write essays in middle school.

Sport has always been a huge part of my life ever since I started playing football at the age sixteen when I first came to United States. I have had experience in many sports such as basketball, baseball, track and field, golf etc. I have joined most of varsity teams at school, a subject which has played a big part in my school career. The things I like about sport are that it needs strong dedication and hard work to be successful. It is also quite tough and challenging. Chiropractic and Acupuncture would be the ideal career I would like to follow, able to help young children protect themselves and being able to give back what I learned from my athletic experience. Second, although I am aiming different field of career, I still chose to take classes such as AutoCad, Photoshop and I am getting my International License on September 10th. Third, I am constantly learning how to train and improve my body. I volunteer at a local fitness center to help those who cannot afford to pay for a personal trainer. And because of this teaching opportunity, I learned a lot about our bodies and how to train different muscles. I believe this would have great influence in my future learning in classes.

In conclusion, I would like to end with a quote from Dr. Monte Hessler: “You earn the right by paying your dues, being foresighted, and taking some risks.” And this is exactly what I am doing: getting into Southern California University of Health Sciences, study hard, pass the exam and help with people that needed me.
