Personal Narrative: My Experience At Alexander High School

The week of October 2nd through October 6th began with an ARD on Monday morning at 9:10 a.m. the meeting went for about an hour and the parents were concerned about some of the teachers who are not providing the accommodations according to the individual needs of the student. As a committee, we discussed some changes that needed to be recorded and the administrator assured that she would call in the teachers who were not adhering to these policies. I attended a faculty meeting where we discussed Title 1, the McKinney Vento Act, Leap Forward, CBA’s, flat panels, homecoming, red ribbon week, attendance policies, band achievement awards, duty, and technology. She also reinforced the importance of arriving at duty on time (which I can say I received two gift certificates for perfect arrival for the first six weeks). On Tuesday, I attended a PBIS Committee meeting which I was nominated to be a team member and mentor to the 6th-grade campus. On Wednesday, I was asked to partake in a PSAT training because they wanted me to assist the Academic Coordinator in setting up all the necessary materials for the teachers and I was asked to administer the test. As usual, on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday I reported to Alexander High School as soon as I left Trautmann and assisted the Academic Coordinator in coordinating with the teachers to have coverage for a variety of targeted students. We discussed the progress of tutorials for a certain number of students, addressed the usage of NoRedInk a software program that builds stronger writers through the interest based curriculum, adaptive exercises, and actionable data, and the need for more students to attend tutorials.
