Story One: Genesis The year was 1945, the blazing blizzard was harsh and cold, so cold that people froze to death if they went outside, children crying and parents trying to stay warm, all I can hear is the death and sorrow of the people as they struggle to find warmth. This winter in particular was the worst winter that we had ever faced, frostbite was a definite for those who wished to travel the winter baron. I am a poor simple man yet still alive, some would call it luck some would call it a gift from god. No person has a gift from god, I only think this because I am atheist and see no way in there being a higher power. I have been on the streets for 10 years now, I am 27 years old and ever since my parents had died I have had to defend myself and find ways for me to …show more content…
My life has been hell these past 10 years, I don’t have a job, a house, and no means of transportation. I have been living off of other people's scraps. Here and there I will find a half eaten burger and you should see the look on my face when I see one of those. For the past year I have been thinking of stealing from other people and I have found it in my mind that, that would be the only way for me to survive. That night I waited for the streets to go dim and all the people to flee from the area in which I was going to hit first. An hour later the streets were more silent than death, there was a house I had spotted first, these folks were rich so I thought I would definitely go there first. I walked up to the gate and realized they keep it locked at night, so I quickly hopped over the brick wall they had put up to prevent animals from getting in. I used the back door so that I wouldn’t get caught but what I didn’t realize was that they were having dinner and their dining room was in the back of the house. I ended up trying the garage, but unfortunately it was locked. All of a sudden I had spotted a window in the corner of my eye, I used the vines they have on the side of
When we are born into the world, it is far from our last birth. The birth of our identities begins as we grow. And while not right or wrong, it is how our minds take on an identity during our key developmental years.
Personal Narrative: The World The world is a messed up place and we are all stuck here until our lives are through, or until we choose to leave. It's strange that I go along with everything everyone tells me, such as that I should wear certain clothes or listen to certain songs. I often wonder why I do the things I do, but then I just realize that's who I am. People are confused about why they are here, and they don't understand what life is supposed to be about.
Every student dreams of going to college, but once you are enrolled it’s a challenge to achieve the goal of getting the degree. Weather it has been a friend, family member, or even a neighbor they have their ways of handling the conundrum. My friend Kevin, recently graduated this past year, started of in Middlesex for two years, and then he transferred to Rutgers to finish his career. He graduated from Rutgers and now is an accounting major. Kevin is amiable, hardworking, and deft. During his time at Middlesex and Rutgers, he had a job at Apple, went to the gym, participated in many fundraisers, and volunteer at hospitals. All these task that he did engendered an issue. The issue it created was that he had no time to do anything. He would
Did you know that my Great-Grandpa’s name was changed on Ellis Island when he came to America? I’ve lived in America all my life. Some of my relatives tell me stories about how they came to America. Long before I was born some of my Great-Great Grandparents came to America. These stories always made me wonder what happened before I was born.
captive by a sheath of frost, as were the glacial branches that scraped at my windows, begging to get in. It is indeed the coldest year I can remember, with winds like barbs that caught and pulled at my skin. People ceaselessly searched for warmth, but my family found that this year, the warmth was searching for us.
"KATHLEEN!! I NEED YOU TO GET MY BALLOON OFF THE CEILING!" That may sound a little odd, but trust me there is a good reason for my cousins and my sister Clare are shouting at me to get the balloons down. Today is Saturday January 21. My dad and my aunt are having their birthdays at my house today. Aunts, uncles, cousins, parents, a sister and one lonely cat roam the house enjoying the party and having a great time. Previously in the morning I had softball practice from 9-11 AM and then I went bowling with my dad and sister. I had already had a lot of fun that morning, but I was about to have a WHOLE lot more!
Matters of Faith offers an array of things such as music, messages/devotionals and sometimes even a guest speaker. It is a place for many people to come together and hear not only about their own religion but other religions, as well. As a matter of fact, those are some of the reasons that had me intrigued and wanting to see what Matters of Faith was really all about.
Previously, When I got home I saw my brothers and sisters running and screaming, I thought they were just excited to see me. When I went inside I saw all our stuff packed in cardboard boxes.
It was a long and silent night. I couldn’t help but realize that, as the night progressed, my chances of survival were decreasing. I had intentionally come out to the forest to find some crowberry for my pet jackalope, Rufus; it was the time of season the berries were to be at their ripest point, but little had I known that it would arrive. It was a beast with teeth the size of rock, the head of a tiger, the body of a snake, the wings of a great eagle, and green, glowing eyes staring at you as if your death approached with every step it took. I was lucky to have survived, but my friend, Thomas, wasn’t. I had watched as the beast took Thomas away to its lair in the high peaks of Mount Atheodus, while I had to return to Rufus.
My civilization is the best because it has built its way up. We started small but now we are the biggest civilization that Asia has ever seen. A lot of people come to visit and move here from all over the world. This is because we are the greatest civilization that this world has ever seen. Our government works hard to help out the people of this city and the people work hard among themselves to provide for neighbors and loved ones so that the government only assists on necessary things.
This morning, I worked up to get ready for school. I put on mo clothes and brush my teeth. I ate breakfast and got ready to go to the bus. What! My mom running to me to give me my lunch. I got on the bus and we were heading to school. I sat in my seat getting ready for class.
My alarm clock ringed off at 4am, buzzing underneath my pillow. Immediately, I got up and switched it off hoping no one would awaken. The room was extremely quiet, faintly hear my brother snoring in the room across me. The raindrops on my window were starting to multiply, the sky becoming darker. I was worried. I didn’t know if this was the right thing to do, but I reassured myself that everything would work out. I grabbed my old bag that my mother bought me as a gift for Christmas. It was leather, built with sturdy straps and two slots with zippers that could fit almost everything inside. I grabbed the polished keys from my dresser, opening the window ever so slightly. I quickly hopped out and ran towards the old motorcycle, started the engine,
It was a cold morning. Dark and rainy. I woke up at 3:00am, packed the last items, and left to the airpot to catch my fight. Arriving at the airport got me quite excited for this vacation (I had no idea what was in store for me). We checked in, got food, waited for the plane, boarded the plane, took off. On the plane, I sat next to my cousin who was a few years older than me, thinking it wouldn't be so bad - oh boy was I wrong. Not only did we have to deal with our annoying sisters, we also had: an elderly lady needing to use the restroom every 10 minutes, a crying baby infant of us, and a little boy who love to kick the seat. Finally, the plane landed in, the ever so beautiful, Florida. As I thankfully got off the airplane, I went to go
Humans from my own point of view are God's creation, because the bible makes me understand that humans were created in God's image, and during the creation of man, God blew the breath of life into man to make him come alive. I assume the reason humans are so unique is that they were created like God. The reason why humans are the best of all creation is that they can think, invent new things, and have dominion of all other creatures on earth. Humans are the only living creation that is conscious of their own existence, because they have advanced knowledge and skills to do things, for example, humans can clothe themselves, cook their foods, and even invent numerous technologies. Humans have a well-regulated sense that is able to explain natural occurrence through belief, science, and way of life.
I never really thought about where my life was going. I always believed life took me where I wanted to go, I never thought that I was the one who took myself were I wanted to go. Once I entered high school I changed the way I thought. This is why I chose to go to college. I believe that college will give me the keys to unlock the doors of life. This way I can choose for myself where I go instead of someone choosing for me.
