Personal Narrative Essay: My Journey In The World

My story starts like many others around this world; unfortunately being raised in a poor situation. I grew up in a single parent family, with my five other siblings. From a very young age, I was determined to succeed at any goal I ever dreamt of. Seeing my mother struggle inspired me to work hard and go after what I wanted in life. I didn’t have the money like many others did growing up. I had to work multiple jobs to put myself through school and pursue the activities and social outings of my youth.

Since I was a kid, I have always been fascinated by the world and it’s many cultures. Although our family never had the money to travel abroad; I was always eager to explore the world. At the age of 16, I saved up enough money to fully fund a two-month trip to Guatemala, so I could Spanish and volunteer.

To this day, I am so thankful I had to go through these life experiences, because it is those struggles, and those hardships, that define me as the person I am today. I believe my confidence, international, and life experience will add a lot of value to the academic community of Hult....
