They say starting a new endeavor is always challenging. In this case, that has proven true. By no means has it been insanely rough, but there was definitely an adjusting period. In the month or so that I have been over there, I have begun to understand their routines, and how their rules work. I have worked in daycare classrooms before, and this was very different, so it took some time. To be honest, I expected something different. I hoped to be in the Primary Center, in one of the Early Childhood Ed classes. I want to go into Early Childhood Education, so I guess it’s only natural to want to start in that age group now. Early literacy has been one of the obstacles my family has gone through and growing up as the oldest of five children there were many things to fix around the house before practicing on reading and writing skills. Both of my parents had the same struggle with literacy because they had to learn English before one them can teach us reading or writing.
Can I love? Can I be loved? Am I worthy of love? I am a woman who experienced the anguish of love-loss at a very tender age and these questions capture my prime concern and fear in life. At a young age, I bore the brunt of neglect and abuse from the very caregivers who were supposed to be my protectors. At the age of 16, I was put into foster care. I have experienced tumultuous and dysfunctional intimate relationships in my search for love, connectivity and identity. Now, as a mother, I am learning to give the love I never got.
The four baby project was..something else entirely. When I was a freshman I was so looking forward to doing this project I was like “Yay i can't wait to have my fake baby boy, I can't wait to take it with me every where!” Then the time finally came and nothing turned out like like i wanted it to. First, I did not get the gender i wanted and got a girl instead of a boy, second the baby was actually way harder to make than i thought would be, and third my baby was not cute at all (well only a little). In all honesty i feel like there were no good times spent with me and my baby. I had to take her everywhere and it was actually kind of frustrating and even though it was a fake baby it actually caused me and my parents to argue over the stupidest
Never having been on my own before it was not surprising that I shook with fear when I was left alone at the Asheville Airport in North Carolina. I was in 8th grade and having said my good-byes to my family, I struggled into the airport with my luggage, completely alone.
Teachers have a positive influence on many students lives. One teacher has made a huge impact on my life. Mrs. X has always helped me and made a huge impact on my life. She always listened to what I had to say and she helped me learn.
There was once this girl I knew in first grade. She wasn’t what you would call the perfect child. She used to talk all through class, not do her homework, and lie ALL THE TIME. She knew her parents would kill her if they knew what her life was like in school so she told them lies. She told them she has been getting excellent grades, she was the class and hall monitor, and even her teacher’s favorite student.
When I was a young child I suffered from dyslexia. During my first few years of elementary school reading and writing seemed unattainable. I would write letters and numbers backwards especially s, 3, and e. I couldn’t even spell my whole name correctly and to this day I still don’t know my right hand from my left hand unless I am holding my pencil. In first grade when we broke into smaller groups for reading based on our reading level I felt so devastated and degraded to be put in the lowest level group, I recall the short books we read were half actual words and half pictures so if it said “the cat” for example it would have the word the and a tiny picture of a cat. I felt extremely envious to see so many kids my age who were light years beyond me with reading and writing. Despite my struggles I kept reading, I so desperately desired to read a book by myself without help. As I continued to read with the help of my teachers and my grandparents. I slowly continued to improve, and was able to read increasingly difficult books.
Curriculum is the organized framework that explains the content that children are to learn, the processes through which children achieve the identified curricular goals, what teachers do to help children achieve these goals and the context in which teaching and learning occur. The best curriculum for early childhood teacher is developmentally appropriate curriculum that allows teachers to set-up an effective learning environment for children.
It is incredible to understand how the way someone was nurtured as a child could have such an effect on there adulthood. I personally believe that the events that occurred in my early childhood were stepping stones to defined me as the person I am today.

I have had a lot of experience working with children, it began from volunteering at a daycare to babysitting my nephew. My passion for wanting to work with children started growing as i saw how fast a child can pick up on doing something if you give him the opportunity to. It helped me learn not to do the child's work for them but rather guide them through it as that is the best way in my point of view that was more effective.
The past year, I had the experience to volunteer at Mandy Canfora Valley, the autistic program at my middle school. The program was located in a classroom, and had about ten children in it. Frankly, I was apprehensive at first, because I did not have any experience working with autistic children before. On my first day, I entered the room with two other eighth graders and was warmly greeted by the children. We played Pictionary, a game where a designated person draws on a board and someone else guesses what they drew. It was my turn, and I remember that I drew an apple. One of the kids, named Timothy raised his hand and guessed, “A ball? Hm.. an apple?” When I said “Yes!”, his eyes lit up. The happiness I saw radiating through Timothy’s eyes
I know im behind but im trying to study on what to major in. As a teenager, you are always told that you are either “Too old for this” or “Too young for that.” It always seemed to me that my parents wanted me to grow up and be independent, but they also wanted me to be their baby forever. The problem is, sorry parents, you can’t be a kid and an adult at the same time. Shocker, I know, but it is the honest truth.
My early childhood is filled with fond memories. Many of my memories are with my mom and my grandma. As I age, it does get harder to remember certain things as a child, especially as I read the chapter for this week.
