A PED or a performance enhancing drug is a drug which helps the user to improve on any form of activity performance. Athletes and bodybuilders use PED’s to enhance their performance. There are many types of PEDs, one is the anabolic drug. It is the most common and it is to build up muscle. They are steroids, hormones, and human growth hormone. The effects are giving the user extra strength, speed, and increases their size. It can be detected by a urine sample from the user. The side effects are severe acne, oily skin, hair loss, liver disease, liver tumors and cysts, kidney disease, heart disease, heart attacks, strokes, altered moods, irritability, increased aggression, depression or feeling suicidal, alterations in cholesterol and other blood …show more content…

The ethic opinions of PED is mostly one side for the public but split in expert side. The public ethic opinion is against athletes and people using PEDs because it is considered cheating in the public eyes. PED does enhance the user to improve in any form of activity performance. It lets them improve in such a shorter amount of time than if they train their bodies naturally. It helps them to be in a better shape than their competitors. But it’s cheating because the competitors didn’t consume the drug also which gives the PED user an unfair advantage. It is like a kid who studys for a test for a whole week and gets a 85 on it. But the other kids doesn’t study and cheats on it, and gets a 95 on it. People wouldn’t like that and the person who cheated didn’t deserve that grade that they received. People wouldn’t trust them, respect, or believe them. It’s the same for someone who trained a whole year for a event but comes in second to the person who took PEDs and barely trained for it. People wouldn’t respect the person who won and used PED and would believe that the person who came in second place should’ve won instead. Also taking PEDs comes with a risk to the user health in the long run in some cases. In extreme cases it may even result in death. The expert opinion is more split. The experts who are against it agree with the public opinion. But the experts who disagree say that they should be allowed to take it. Some doctors and athletes say it should be allowed because it allows the user to get better even faster. They also say that if everyone takes them, then it’s a even playing field because everyone is using the same advantaging which is making it fair.
