7. Does oral sex count as sex, or not? Of course, oral sex is sex. I don't understand where this legalistic idea that "sex" means "vaginal penetration" and nothing else came from. I believe that oral sex is a sex act. It is just as intimate, if not more so, than sexual intercourse. It is by no means a safe way to have sex since you can still get sexually transmitted diseases. It will always be viewed as a step below actually having intercourse though. It seems baffling that someone might consider oral sex not to be considered a sexual activity. While it may not be considered the "traditional" method of sexual activity, it still involves sexual organs and still produces fluids from the body. There may not be a risk of pregnancy through oral sex, but there is still the risk of sexually transmitted diseases and that should be brought to light to everyone with the label of "Oral Sex." Although some educators believe abstinence is the best way to teach sexual education to high school students, it often lacks the necessary information to help the teen make good decisions with their sex life. We should be giving the youth of today a complete sexual education curriculum and trust them to make the right decision on contraceptive and “staying safe”. Scott Hightower’s poem “Father” could be very confusing to interpret. Throughout almost the entirety of the poem the speaker tries to define who his father is by comparing him to various things. As the poem begins the reader is provided with the information that the father “was” all of these things this things that he is being compared to. The constant use of the word “was” gets the reader to think ‘how come the speaker’s father is no longer comparable to these things?’ After the speaker reveals that his father is no longer around, he describes how his father impacted him. Details about the father as well as descriptions of the impacts the father has distraught on the speaker are all presented in metaphors. The repetitive pattern concerning the speaker’s father and the constant use of metaphors gives the reader a sense that the speaker possesses an obsessive trait. As the reader tries to interpret the seemingly endless amount of metaphors, sets of connotative image banks begin to develop in the reader’s mind. Major concepts that are expressed throughout the poem are ideas about what the speaker’s father was like, what he meant to the speaker, and how he influenced the speaker.

Abstinence education is all about, “just saying no.” They teach to abstain from all sexual acts until marriage. Safe sexual education takes a very different approach. It teaches all about sexuality, the consequences of sexuality, contraceptives, different STDs, ways to protect yourself from STDs, pregnancy, and other issues regarding teen bodies. There is a debate against these different sex education programs because some think abstinence only education does not have any effect on teenagers while some believe that safe sex education encourages teenagers to engage in sexual behavior.
