Oprah Winfrey did a wonderful job at give this speech especially since it was in front of a large audience. First in for most it was great and respectful how she started the speech off with congratulating the class of 2008 for a job well done. Throughout the speech she gave the audience little short stories about her life and she found a way to tie it back to the audience and how her life lessons could help them be better people in the future. Oprah Winfrey uses several quotes through the speech which showed that she was very credible. The best quote of all was the last quote by Dr. King stating “not everybody can be great … because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”
The speech first started with Oprah Winfrey telling a story about her good daughter and how she did not want anyone to know that she knew who she was. Even though her god daughter was graduating that day I really did not see the relevance of spending about five minutes telling the story. Even though it is a special occasion for her it still was not really relevant to me. The language she use while given the speech in this section was okay. It just to me that was not a strong opening and she could have done a better job at organizing that opening.
It was wonderful how Oprah Winfrey express the important of education and how she started in her profession. That inspired me to go after my degree with all my heart even if just like her I end up missing one credit to graduate. Giving back is the true form of happiness because you make someone else happy which help brighten up your spirit. I also remember she said that when faced with a difficulty it best that you help someone else out and by helping them out is exactly how you would get out of our situation. Oprah Winfrey conclusion gave the listener something to look forward to and also in a way a call to action. To show the exactly what she meet she followed through with her call of action by giving them a surprise. The surprise was the last thing she expressed, she made was when she said she believe that everything is better when you share it and she gave the class two book that are of important to her. Overall she did a great job present the speech to the class of 2008 at Stanford University.

He graduated top of his class and the speech was a chance to showcase his potential
He took a stand to make a difference in something he was passionate about and he urged the American people to do the same. He made the audience realize that even if this law is passed there will always be times that We the American people will also have to take a stand to do what’s right. His speech is so well written it makes it seem like the only option is to vote for the law to be passed. In a way this speech inspired me to take a stand when something wrong is happening and make a difference. Living in a time period where this was a big issue would have been hard but, I think it needed to happen to show the world that just because your skin color or religion we are all American people and we all need to work together to make this place
The speaker organized the presentation very well and made it easy to follow for the audience. She chose words that got the message across clearly and were not difficult to understand. Since this was targeted at a younger audience, she simplified the concepts and was very specific. The sentences of the speech were structured appropriately, and had no grammatical errors. She also included some transitions in between, especially when moving from one idea to the next which made the flow
I agree with the quote. In my opinion, a leader is someone who can listen, without judgement and understand. A leader is someone who can inspire a change and who can empower that change to sustain itself.And, I believe that Oprah Winfrey is the one person who can justify the quote perfectly.
Winfrey’s early life was filled with arduous hurdles from the beginning, she was raised in a small podunk town in Mississippi that was anything but safe for a young girl, but on top of that she was raised by a single mother who was not around nearly enough. However the most formidable part of her upbringing was, she was sexually abused by ‘family friends’ and relatives on multiple occasions starting from the age of just nine. At twelve she was sent away to middle Tennessee to live with her father, there she realised her passion, she began giving speeches in front of her church and ultimately came to the conclusion that she wanted to speak for a living. Without her parents divorce Winfrey might have never figured out her passion of speaking to people until it was too late, this was a hidden advantage in the making of her success. However all too soon she had to leave the comfort of her father’s home where she could pursue her interest and journey back to her mother, where she was sadly yet again

Overall, The speech was very well presented and had a decent balance of humor within it. There was a nice touch towards the end where he sincerely thanked people who had gotten him to where he is today. Whenever you receive an award it is always good to give credit where it is due as this can help you gain more respect from your audience. Speaking in to a group this large while on television is not something that everyone can do and I feel that Will Ferrell did a good job in demonstrating the message in which he wanted to get
The definition of a renaissance man or woman is a person who is well educated and sophisticated and who has a talent and knowledge of many different fields of study. Oprah is a show host, actress, philanthropist, and producer. I believe that Oprah Winfrey is our modern day Renaissance woman.
Now, Ellen DeGeneres does not live in fear because everything turned out for the better. She can still use ethos to prove to everyone that she is a down right awesome celebrity. She can use pathos to explain her life to us and to tell us it’s not easy to get where you want to go but you’ll eventually get there. Her speech was definitely effective because she caught my attention. She worded everything to make the graduates feel like they have lived her life with her. And she went from comedic to serious in a great way that changed the tone to a great speech.
Overall, O’ Brien did a phenomenal job connecting with his audience. His speech had universal significance because his message was, failure and change will prevail, but you should embrace it and learn from it. This message is important cause failure and change universally affects everyone. O’Brien is giving the audience valuable advice by telling them to embrace their shortcomings and losses. Many people do not know what do when they fail. O’ Brien leads the viewers into comfort by telling them he has once failed before he was successful. O’Brien speech was very effective because of his use of humor and anecdotes, which helped convey his message with his audience.
