Not Quite Married Oprah Winfrey was born on January 29, 1954, in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Oprah’s childhood was extremely traumatic. When she was younger, several male relatives and friends of her mother, Vernita, sexually abused her. When Oprah became older, she moved to Nashville to live with her father, Vernon. In 1971, Oprah became a freshman at Tennessee State University. Oprah moved to Baltimore, Maryland, in 1976 and hosted the talk show People Are Talking. The show was a hit, and soon people recognized Oprah’s talent. She was recruited by a Chicago TV station to host her own morning show. Later, Oprah hosted another talk show named the Oprah Winfrey Show, which was perhaps her greatest show, as it aired for 25 seasons from 1986-2011 and became very popular.

At the time, Stedman was a swimsuit model, and Oprah’s friends warned her against him. The couple dated for a very long time, and in November of 1992, Stedman proposed. To this day, Stedman and Oprah are still engaged. Even though they have no children, Oprah considers Wendy, Stedman’s child from his previous marriage, her own. Oprah and Stedman consider their engagement as basically a marriage. Today, he is very successful as a chairman and CEO of S. Graham and Associates, his own company. Graham has authored eleven books, as well.
