In offices, the space of employees is either detrimental or healthy for successful companies in today’s economy. In open office space, individuals can’t retain culturist views on how work is completed. It is important to allow employees to complete tasks in a comfortable environment in which they can focus and efficiently work. Companies will achieve more if their employees are successful and that is only possible in closed offices. Open office space is the loss of separation between employees. “A number-one issue associated with working in open offices”(source F) is the loss of a can-do-it attitude. Employees lose the idea of an individual goal they must achieve by working around people that all have a common quota. Nobody has the encouragement of going above and beyond the all-around goal. Due to other employees having the access to barge into other workers business, there is a situation of people “struggling to work efficiently”(source F). This results in loss of productivity. Company ratings then go down as productivity decreases as well. Thus people feel physically and mentally strained to work harder and get more hours in. Since people are always getting hired, the “densification we’ve [businesses] seen happening in the environment”(source F) was just getting “out of control”(source F). Too many people close together is statistically going to leave only one-hundred square feet per person by the year of 2017.
