How often do you see teens not acting the same after being picked on after getting passed around in the internet but not in the good way? The CDC, (Center of Disease Control), studies show that 14.8% high school students in the U.S reported being bullied online. “90% of teens reported also being bullied offline” (“online exposure”). This is usually caused by having different interest in preference in dating, having some sort of disability, and the weight of the person. Teenagers’ emotional becomes more enhance to depression or even going into serious thoughts of suicide. Arguably online dating and posting your love interest is very popular for our generation. For instance, an 18-year-old named Jessica Logan who went through this tragedy of humiliation online by her loved one. Jessica, a High School senior, sent nude photos of herself to her boyfriend. Sadly, the photos were sent to hundreds of teenagers around the local area of the high school, after Jessica broke up with her boyfriend. Similar case involves Ryan Halligan, troubled with his speech and language skills, this defect caused Ryan to be bullied since he was a child. As a teen, Ryan thought he found a friend and told his personal life about being Homosexual, not knowing that he told it to one that once bullied him. The bullied convince some girls to toy with Ryan to give personal picture through AOL messenger. Once the girls were able to get the nude pictures, they publicly humiliated Ryan by posting the pictures online. After seeing the images online, Ryan committed suicide in the family bathroom. Ryan’s father stated “technology was being utilized as a weapon far more effective and reaching than the simple ones we had as kids.”
