Olympics Ancient Greeks have a long history of glorifying physical fitness and that is the assumption behind the creation of Olympic games. For ancient Greeks sports were not simply just for entertaiment but it actually played a vital role in declaring war and/or peace among one another. In the very begginingg there were very few sports that were included in the olympics. With time olympic games have now transformed into an international event with hundreds of sports that both men and women take part. There are many interesting sports in the Olympics but I will only mention Archery, Boxing, Equestrian and Gymnastics. Archery is a sport where an individual shoots with a bow and arrow at a target. It was first introduced in the Olympic games in the 7th century BC. The earliest that boxing dates is all the way back to ancient Egypt around 300 BC. Then the sport was introduced to the Greeks which later would be added into the Olympic games. Modern boxing first sprung in 1700’s in England however it wasn’t included in the 1896 revival Olympics due to its aggressive nature. Boxing officially made its debut in the Olympic games in 1904 games in United States. Boxing is one of the few to almost last sport in the Olympics where ammeters can become professionals in a short time. Teofilo Stevenson was the first to win three gold medals in the same Olympic division in 1972,1976 and 1980. A boxer in the Olympics may loose by a default if he already has 3 foul warnings from the referee. These fouls are defined as hitting below the belt, kicking and or head butting, using foul words or showing aggressive behavior towards the referee. The United States has a total of 110 Olympic boxing medals. That is a record that no other nation has come
