The unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things, especially on the ground of race, age, or sex. In book of Mice and Men back in history many kind of people are discriminated against and the kind of discrimination gets harsh on 3 people. Discrimination affect characters in of Mice and Men through Crooks being Ignored and isolated from people, Curley 's wife not being looked as equal as the other people, and Lennie being looked as not a normal person. First of all, Crooks being a different color gets isolated and ignored by other people. “Why ain’t you wanted?” Lennie asked “Cause i 'm black”(Steinback 68). This shows that colored people in the past were not wanted within the same area and that people that would at least know the colored guy more would not want to be with the person and end up ignoring the colored and letting them be by themselves not connecting with them or visiting them. “He ain’t no cuckoo” “He’s dumb as hell, but he ain’t crazy”(Steinback 39). Showing that people who knows Lennie thinks he is a cuckoo right off the bat by how he talk, act, thoughts, etc. Which make people suddenly think that he is crazy and dumb from what he is like off the get go acting like a child. “They’ll take ya to the booby hatch. They’ll tie you up with a collar, like a dog”.(Steinback 72) Showing that people don’t really understand mental disability and not know how to act upon one except take them out right away quickly. Also showing that people do not really care looking into people with a disability and putting them right away imprisoned or killing them not giving people chances to live or have a life.
