How My Obstacles That Changed My Life

Obstacles usually come from a quiet period of time when everything seems to be going perfectly. That’s when obstacles of any shape or form come one after the other. Eventually when the obstacles have been faced you can find yourself as a better or worse or worse person. One of the hardest obstacles I faced happened when I was 8 years old. During my quiet period of time I was a healthy child who got along with everyone I met and never got into trouble. At the age of 8 I started to feel extremely itchy and developed white patches all over my body. My parents figured it was eczema, which I had when I was younger so they didn’t worry. Over time the patches darkened and more started developing. My parents started to worry and took me to a doctor. …show more content…

Throughout that school year we learned that the company my parents worked for was going out of business and we would have to move. My friends were sad that I was moving but in a way I was also looking forward to it. Moving to a new city was exciting for me and I couldn’t wait to make new friends. So when my treatment finally ended we moved to Wilmington, North Carolina. My new house was a lot smaller and it took a while to get used to. One good thing about my new neighborhood was that there were finally children my age to play with and I met my best friend the day I moved there. When school finally started I was very excited and couldn’t wait to meet new people. I was met with a very different reality. Pityriasis Rosea leaves dark patches on people with a darker skin tone and I had a lot of them. Since I was excited about having to wear a uniform for the first time I wore a dress that showed my arms and legs. Apparently none of the children knew what kind of disease I had and no one wanted to be my friend. My teacher tried to help me find friends and was unsuccessful until a new girl became my friend until middle school where we ended up drifting apart. To this day I haven’t met a single person with the disease I had, excluding a girl I met while getting treatment. My self esteem was very low and I was an easy target to bullying. I made friends with two boys who got picked on for being my friends in middle school. There were several other personal problems which made middle school a massive obstacle
