Some Life Long Ideas Pertaining to Food, Nutrition, Digestion and Wellness It was in the 1945’s post Second World War period I learnt a lot about the value of food, digestion and wellness. At that time in the environment of my youth, home grown food was common place. Each household knew at least how to grow and preserve vegetables and fruits mainly utilising the Sun’s energy. During bumper harvest it was usual to seek help from neighbours who will assist to store and preserve food. As a young boy, I enjoyed taking part in preparing and storing a variety of sun dried vegetables and coconut flakes. Sun dried cassava was used to make cassava bread, sun dried ginger was used to make ginger wine which was sweetened with locally produced honey. …show more content…

I have followed a course of study in Nutrition and Advanced Nutrition. Nutrition is a complex subject which I have with respect grouped into the following two definitions: Definition 1
Nutrition is the supply of materials (basically regarded as food) required by organisms and cells to stay alive. In science and human medicine, nutrition is the study of the science or practice of consumption and utilization of foods by humans.

Definition 2
As more insights are gained in molecular biology, biochemistry and genetics, nutrition has become more focused on the biochemical sequences through which substances in humans and other living organisms are transformed from one form to another i.e. metabolism and metabolic pathways.
In this regard, it appears that aspects of Definition 1 are practised in hospitals (which have the principal objective of keeping people alive). In hospitals nutrition is focused on the food requirements of patients, including nutritional solutions that are delivered via an IV (intravenous) or IG (intragastric)
