I felt compelled to go into the medical field once I had been involved in numerous experiences where medical care was needed, but not provided in a timely manner, costing the lives of my friends and family members. It was very hard for me to go through losing friends and family members due to negligent medical staff, but these experiences helped shine a light on the need for caring and qualified health professionals. I want to do everything that I can to provide quality care to others by providing care physically and emotionally. A career in nursing will help me fulfill these desires as it is a great career that requires you to be selfless and willing to serve others at all times. As a nurse I will have received the foundation to not only educate and care for my family members, but also my community. When taking my prerequisite courses I strived for my best, maintained a positive attitude, and made the best out of difficult and stressful situations. Not only have I looked for ways to excel academically, but I have also looked for ways to get involved in my community. When my class schedule permitted me to get involved in other activities I looked for ways to help improve my community such as tutoring the student’s of Canyon Lake High School in Biology and volunteering with the after school learning program at Morning Side Elementary School. I plan on using my degree in nursing to fulfill many duties such as caring for people in underprivileged countries, traveling to hospitals across the United States as a travel nurse, and educating the community about health and wellness.
