Not only are the human family is mentioned but also the god's family (Sturluson). Family was mentioned from the beginning of time. We saw the bond and how important family ties were. Also this is portrayed in.the “Death of Balder” Balder's mother was told that he would be brought down, and with this information she went around the realms making treaties to protect her son. Loki disguised himself and went to Frigg and asked her how she knew no one would be able to kill Balder. Frigg told him what she had done, and also mentioned that the only thing she had not taken care of was the planet that held mistletoe. She had not considered such a small thing taking out her son. Loki took this information and made a sword of Mistletoe and had Balder's blind brother throw it at him (McCoy,236). Frigg went around making sure her son would not die. She went to every realm and asked the people of each not to harm him, except one. When Loki found this he ended Balder's life, causing much grief in the lives of Odin and Frigg while they mourned the loss of her son. Furthermore, we can go back to Loki's Punishment where as Loki is chained to the cave his wife, Sigyn holds a bowl over his head as long he is in his imprisonment to catch the venom from a snake the Valkyrie put over his head to make him suffer (McCoy,259-260). This demonstrates how loyalty to family is important to the gods and how highly they value one
