Sweat beading up, rolling down my face, wincing in pain as my body aches, but I keep on, knowing that the past four years of my life had led to this moment. As my day trudged on things finally came to an end and I’ve achieved my goal, I received my black belt. This happened around seven years ago. Today, I’ve won many awards, including many grand championships and being ranked top ten nationally. I continue on with my adventures within karate-fueled by my passion for the sport. In order to get an understanding of what this means to me, you have to know how I got here. It all began just before kindergarten year, both of my parents worked late hours so I had to join some sort of afterschool program. Instantly, I felt as if I had done something very wrong and filled with emotion, but the class begun so there was nothing I can do about it. Later that day the, main instructor confirmed that in order to get my white belt, which I thought was something just given to you, I would need to recite the long student creed. A week later, I’d done it I got my white belt, might not seem like a huge achievement for most, but I was ecstatic, feeling like I had defied all odds. As time continued on I realized that karate was fun and that as long as I put hard work into things that I can be good at them. I especially captioned this moment when I was at a night class and I volunteered to demonstrate pushups. There was a crowd of 20 parents so I wanted to display me best, I into my pushup position and went down until my nose touched the ground and went back up. Impressed the parents cheered. “That is how to do your pushups” Mr. Manuel stated to the class of kids all under ten years old. This moment has been engraved into my memory as it is what I use whenever I am going through any tough
