The last six weeks have been some of the most rewarding and worrying of my life. I feel that I have grown so much in these first few months at college. One of the best parts of this time in my life is that I have gained a better understanding of what teaching will be like for in the coming years. From observing at Faubion school to learning more about the best ways for me to teach and to set up my classroom, I have more confidence in myself and my ability to one day teach my own students. My desire to teach has increased over the past weeks because I am now less worried about being The teacher because I now have the foundation to do so. Although I do not think much else has changed. Being able to see three different classrooms and teaching style was very beneficial to my learning. IN every classroom I learned something new, how different students can affect the classroom for the better or worse and different techniques that help control the classroom even when the students are being horrible. I was able to understand that even if you are not going to be a PE teacher learning from them is very helpful, whether it is choosing which battles to fight and which to let go or how to shut the whole class down with a different inflection on your voice all together a very interesting observation and very informative. I also know that Oregon recently decided that a master’s degree is not necessary for teachers below college level. I was wondering why Oregon has decided this along with a few other state when the majority believe that it is need to teach any grade. Another part of this question is how does this affect students? If teachers have varying levels education how can standardized testing be used in a helpful fashion? Does a master’s degree even affect the student’s education? I know that a masters is required in North Carolina and yet, when I live there all I heard about the elementary and high schools was they were not preparing the students for college. Even North Carolina state schools, there is some sort of disconnect I want to know if the teachers have a large effect on this or if it is just the school system. I realize these are large and slightly off topic questions, but these ideas have been confusing me
