Why did I choose to come to college? I choose to come to college so I could further advance my skills and career opportunities. When first coming to college I thought it was going to be a piece of cake, but was I wrong. You had to already know how to study, take test and have perfect time management skills, and I did not have any of those. I ended up dropping many classes my first year in college and failing one or two, and not having that great of a grade point average. In spring 2012 I was automatically enrolled in the strategies for academic success here at Florida State. When I was placed in this class I thought it was the end of the world, I thought I was considered one of Fsu’s dummy student. But my enrollment in the SLS1122 course here at FSU impacted more then I expected. The things I learned in this course have lead me to succeed at many different things. After graduation of my high school, I’ve decided not to attend college. I spent over three months preparing for college admissions. Over three months of studying for the SAT and writing essays for colleges. But, all this hard work was blown away in just a week. The week before the May 1st, the decision day, I had made my decision not to attend college. I have decided to return to my country and start working. Of course, there was a strong disagreement from my parents, but I didn’t hesitate. For the past years, I have worked in many different kinds of places and I have faced the true reality. This made me want to attend college and brought me to Concordia College.
It is a cliché to say that I don’t know what I want to become in the future but in my case, after attending to Lone Star College, my plan for the future straightened out. How did an educational experience help me in college? Why did I attend Lone Star College and how has it benefitted me now? Well, I will tell you why I made the best decision attending Lone Star College and how that has directed me in the path I am at today.
Why do people choose a college? People ask themselves this question all the time. They wonder if college is something they need or don’t need. People think college won’t help them in the future, but in the long run it will. College helps people in many ways though. Some ways college can help us now in days is to get better jobs, extra money and getting the experience of seeing what college is like. As I researched on college and why people try to go. It was interesting to understand all there is now in days to learn when you’re there. College isn’t always a harmful idea to think about going into either. People think its easier now in days to just get a job and live a little. College at least would give you an idea of your talents and strengths in life at least. Hopefully, throughout the rest of my research I find out some additional reasons why people choose a college.
I want to go to college for the wholesome intellectual stimulation and to get more involved with my community. College will be my last opportunity to do so before I enter the work force. At college I can be intellectually and academically challenged; I will be able to learn with friends who are as dedicated to learning and the pursuit of knowledge as I am. My goals in college are to acquire the skills that I need to lead a successful and productive life, to expand my knowledge of the world, to step out of my comfort zone, and to become more proactive.
My purpose and goals in attending college is to make something of my life. It is a good thing. No one wants to be a nobody. But sometimes it takes time in order for one to realize this. & nbsp; Upon graduation from high school, I, like the majority of others high school graduates, had no clue what direction my life was heading or even what I wanted to become.
Going to college is something that has been drilled into my brain by the public education system since I was in first grade. They obviously did a phenomenal job because here I am, a high school senior, applying to various colleges and universities trying to find the right fit. There are many reasons why I want to go to college, but there is one reason above all others, and that is that I want to be able to share my passion of music with others in hopes of sparking a similar passion inside of them.
Honestly college at this certain point in time does not seem worth it. Everywhere else in the world college is free but the United States. People would feel more motivated to go to college if it was free. College is the main reason Americans are having to live such a hard lifestyle. My father did not go to college and makes eighteen dollars an hour. On the other hand my aunt did go to college and make twenty-four dollars an hour but is still paying back student loans so after paying all of her stuff back she only makes around fifteen dollars an hour that she gets to bring back and that doesn’t include taxes. That’s the reason college doesn’t seem like a good choice to make in life.
The decision to enroll in graduate school came after considerable time and soul searching. While contemplating the decision to return to school I thought about life, school and work. I realized that my experience in these areas have prepared me for the challenge and I am going to succeed.
Headed off to college, I thought I knew what I wanted. I thought the school I chose would be the school I would find my major in, a niche with best friends, and the four year experience I would fall in love with. As a senior in high school, I had no idea what I wanted to go to school for, but I knew I would continue my volleyball career, so I looked for a school that would fit that and all other criteria for my ideal school, and I would find the purpose of my schooling as I went. I remember this day like if it was yesterday because it was the day I had to make a college decision. I had to decide if I wanted to keep studying in the states and pursue a higher and more prestige education than in Mexico, or if I wanted to go back to Mexico and rebuild relationships with my friends from home and be closer to my family. In both cases I had something to win and something I was about to sacrifice. This was probably the day I cried the most but not because I was sad. I felt overwhelmed because I had to make this enormous decision about my future on my own.
Academics has always been an important part of my life. Ever since I was a young child my parents have pushed me to lead good life academically. All throughout grade school I have had decent grades (generally speaking in the nineties or above), and I owe this, at least partly, to my parent's determination to give me the best possible education. I also owe this to my will to be at the top of my academic game. This was naturally quite easy for me up until my senior year of high school. When my senior year came around, there was a lot of pressure on me to make a lot of life changing decisions. When all of this was put on me, the last thing that i wanted to do was change the way i was living. I loved the way my life was, and going away from home to college wasn't something that i felt i was ready to do. Because of this i decided to enroll in Genesee Community College, which is about five minutes away from my house.
My first year in college has been a rewarding experience. As I look back on my Why College, Why Now essay, I realize that I have gained a tremendous amount of knowledge about myself. I am proud that I accomplished my goals I made in my first year of college and I exceeded my expectations. I still have the same goal for the future, but I added more goals for the future. I am attending Wilmington University because I want to make my future brighter. Attending college and earning a degree in communication media will help me obtain an exciting job as a professional journalist.
I’m a student at Tompkins Cortland Community College this is my first semester as a college student. I plan to go to college for four years and only be at TC3 for this one semester, then transfer to a four year school. College has grown around the world more than ever and more people are attending college more than ever. I have chosen to go to college because of the rewards after graduation. Yes it is another four years of school but by getting more education and an extended degree gives me more opportunities for better jobs and more money. The career I have chosen to study is business administration. I am hoping that it takes me to a great job managing a company or possibly being an accountant.
