This learning period I focused on my voice and my LP goal to learn new musical songs that I can sing well. I have completed my goal and really enjoyed this learning period. The concepts I practiced this learning period was to push your tongue against your bottom row of teeth to really project your voice for a better singing note. By pushing your tongue against your bottom set of teeth, this allows a larger passage way to let your voice come out by moving your tongue. Another concept was to do breathing and stretching exercises to allow your vocal cords to be at the most limber and relaxed they can be. Standing or sitting up straight is the best position to sing in due to your diaphragm being the most expanded. When you slouch you crush your
Into the Woods is a musical based off of classic Grimms Brothers’ characters and their fairytales. The production explores the consequences of their wishes and the quests that they fulfill and take on. In writing this play, it seems as though Sondheim and Lapine were attempting to bring to life the classic fairytales of their youth with a twist of reality. Through this portrayal of classic tales, the audience is also taken back into their childhood for the entire two hours and forty-five minutes.
In “How we listen to music” by Aaron Copland from McGraw-Hill What to Listen for in Music (1988), the author has organised the listening process so that it had been split into three parts: the sensuous place, the expressive plane, and the sheerly musical plane. Aaron Copland thesis is that each plane of listening has its own function and advantages and knowing about them can help us enhance our listening experience. The purpose of Copland’s essay is to educate his readers on the three main ways people listen to music, and to inspire readers to listen in a more compound way. In the authors casual analysis, Copland tries to for sees his readers’ questions and objections at many points in the essay. He includes the thoughts of his readers to
Throughout this semester of college, I have observed three separate Elementary General Music teachers. Each of the teachers had their own personalities that each reflected upon their teaching. They all came from different areas of study, but all still manage to be successful, each with their own pros and cons.
Within two weeks of his self-titled fifth studio album, FUTURE, the Atlanta rapper returns with HNDRXX, his sixth studio album with a lot of emotions to spill. To release two full-length albums merely weeks apart gives us a spilt metaphor of trap and R&B and the separation between the mind and body. Future becomes brutally honest throughout the codeine and confessions of the women, drugs, money and success. FUTURE gives us some highlight hits like “Rent Money,” “Draco,” “Mask Off,” “High Demand” and “Feds Did a Sweep,” but fails to live up to the hype.
To begin, my purpose of this project was to inform and persuade individuals about the different music styles on the learning process. Sometimes while I am doing my homework I play music and sometimes I do not. I have often wondered if I work faster or better, while working on my homework, with music or without music. Through my research I found out that music helps the brain process information which helps with the learning process. Music can affect a person’s focus and learning such as Albert Einstein, who played the violin. Music was the key that helped Albert Einstein become one of the smartest men who ever lived.
One weakness you are hoping to improve upon this year? Is to improve my vocal skill. How I will be able to improve this skill is by . . . Myself getting help by my fellow troupe members that can range for freshman, sophomore, Juniors, and Senior. Also, what I will do to get better in singing is to try to get vocal lessons to help improve my voice. Why I want to get better in vocal skills is because . . . I want to be able to learn and improve my skill that needs more help than my acting and dancing skills. It will also help me because I need to become a stronger triple threat as some people call it. It will go a long way in my career to make me become a more successful musical theater performer. When will
The average brain contains two percent phone numbers, three percent names, five percent knowledge gained in school, and ninety percent song lyrics (source 1). Through music, numerous positive benefits can influence and enhance the effectiveness of a child in and out of school. The most essential benefits that are enhanced, are work ethic, motivation, relaxation, sleep patterns and concentration. A study conducted by the University of California at Irvine in 1993 and again in 1995 was to study the effects of listening to Mozart for ten minutes before taking a test. Music production is more than just a musical program; it is a duty that requires personal experience with music and artistic direction. Observing producers in the studio, their creativeness comes out in different ways even depending o their task. The artisanship of music production has come a long way ever since the heavily involved recording equipment has been massively changing. Every artwork has countless of individual people who have changed the way the art may be applied to the field, leaving behind their legacy to influence all aspects of music. Music producers are always overlooked when it comes to working with musicians or bands, but what people do not know is that they are the backbone of the production but are unseen to the public. There are several of paths on becoming a producer, like being self-taught or going to a vocational school. If you plan to advance as a producer, it will be a rough experience trying to ascend to a higher position. A music producer is the main person that manages the whole album on a record, and is responsible for helping the artist complete his work.
The first time I auditioned was in 2015. It was absolutely incredible walking into a building with thousands of extremely talented people. During this time, I would always feel discouraged because to audition, you were required to perform in front of your competitors. Luckily, that did not stop me from chasing my dreams. The Voice audition really helped me gain my confidence. From then, I have continued to chase after my dream. Early 2016 I auditioned for America’s Got Talent. By this time I was more confident and was able to easily sing with others while waiting for our call to audition. I patiently waited eight hours to sing for one minute! Throughout the long wait, I continued to motivate myself to do my best for my
At the age of ten, my parents decided that I should learn how to play an instrument. In addition, they also chose which instrument I should learn, the guitar. I had no interest in learning the guitar, because all I wanted to spend my leisure time on was improvising my soccer skills. However, my parents believed soccer was a waste of my precious time, time which I should be using to focus on school and expanding my brain by taking on a difficult task, such as learning to play music. This was contrary to what I believed, but I had to do it or else my parents would be displeased. Therefore, the following week, I began taking guitar lessons.
The classroom embodied the stereotypical music classroom with its various instruments scattered around the room. Every inch of the wall and door was covered with music notes while chairs encircled the room. Besides the teacher’s desk, there were no other desks in sight. The students had to sit on the ground in the center of the room away from the instruments. Even when playing instruments, the students sat on the ground. Although the setup was very different from a general classroom, it was appropriate for the kinds of lessons that the teacher taught the students. The teacher did not hand out any worksheets or assigned homework so the students did not need any desks for writing. Since the classroom was already small and cramped, having desks in the class would have impeded on the activities that the students performed.
In addition, some members have the difficulty in finding their voice pitch mainly from the part of soprano and bass wherein they cannot reach some of their parts. In choral singing, it is also important for the members to atleast have an idea or know how to do basic note reading yet most of the members do not know how to do it. In the long run, this could create problems especially in terms of vocal training and vocal development. In order to prevent some of these conflicts, a training program is proposed to help them and give them more idea about vocal technique skills and especially choir technique
