On many occasions in your life, you will experience something that will have a great enough impact to change your opinion on a certain thing. These impactful times can vary in many different ways. However, not always will your opinion or view be changed based off of a good experience. In my case, they vary from a death in the family, to moving out of the country, and getting a different view on a new culture. For someone’s opinion to be changed, they must encounter something that presents them with legitimate facts and a new dynamic view.

However, there was one thing we had in common that was not good. We both loved any food or drink that was filled with sugar. We would eat sweets any time we could get our hands on them. Being a kid, for me eating an abundant amount of sweet was no big deal, but for my Grandpa that was a different story. Ever since my father was a teenager, my Grandpa has very high blood pressure, and unfortunately soon had diabetes. Eventually he was dialysis once a week for years. Despite being on dialysis and having diabetes, my Grandpa continued to eat as he pleased. He also refused to quit smoking, and eating unhealthy and smoking together while having diabetes is not a good combination. My Grandpa passed away at the age of just sixty-four. My Grandpa's death was an extremely low time, especially for my father. However, through these hard time I was taught a very valuable lesson. First, to never pick up a cigarette, and secondly, the effect that an extreme consumption of sweets and sugar has on the body. Now I only drink water and have extremely limited myself on the amount of sugar I consume. My father is now headed down the same path as my Grandpa, and refuses to admit it. I want to be the one to break that horrible chain. Before my Grandpa passed away, he passed down to me his gold chain that has a gold cross on it that he wore his whole life. I use it as a memento of him. Ever since then, my view and the amount of sugar I consumed changed forever.

Over the course of my life, my opinions and views on different things have changed over time. These experiences have shaped the way I think about certain things, and have affected my actions in a positive way. As seen in my life, your views on things and your actions can be changed at any time, but you need to take away the most you can, and apply it to your live so you can be stronger in different places were others
