Fun with Dick and Jane is a movie centered mainly on economics. It begins with Dick Harper, a hardworking employee at a corporation named Globodyne. Dick Harper has just gotten a promotion to become the Vice President, but realizes the next day that it was all just the CEO’s ploy to make him the scapegoat of the criminal activity the company had been involved in. Everyone at the company loses their jobs along with their pension, and the company’s stock drops drastically. Now Dick is jobless and unable to make money to support himself and his family. He spent months on a job search and could not find anything, after he and his wife , Jane, could no longer take it, they resort to a life of crime in order to keep the comfortable lifestyle
Michael Moore made the movie Capitalism: A Love Story to show his audience that because of all of these big banks and large corporations, we are in this huge economic mess. He goes directly to the people affected by this crisis to try and get his point across. Two of the main unethical acts done by these large corporations, according to Michael Moore, are taking out life insurance on employees and infiltrating our government to pass there own agenda. Then Moore goes on to talk about FDR's proposed bill of rights to help the average working American. All of these things come together to create Moore's movie and help him prove his point. We need to act now to prevent these problems from happening in the future.
Director Christopher Nolan′s film Memento (2000), is loosely based from the concept of a short story named Memento Mori written by his brother Jonathan. This story is about a man named Leonard Shelby who is suffering from anterograde amnesia, which is a loss of ability to create new memories after the event that caused the amnesia, leading to a partial or complete inability to recall the recent past, while long term memories from before the event remain intact. Leonard was hit over the head during an attack which resulted in his wife being raped and murdered. With the help of contact named Teddy and a bartender named Natalie, Leonard set out for revenge. Since the attack Leonard has set out to exact revenge on the man who has caused him suffering. He helps himself by writing notes, taking photographs, and tattooing himself with important notes and facts. An analysis of the film Memento reveals the use of film techniques such as editing, non-linear storytelling, symbolism, director's style, musical score, color, and cinematography that creates an intellectual stimulant that has the viewer deciphering a puzzle in a reversed chronological order.
Roger & Me, is a documentary that was directed by Michael Moore in 1989. The purpose of this documentary was to demonstrate the negative impact the shutdown of General Motors had on the town of Flint, Michigan. According to Michael Moore, Flint was the birthplace and former home to General Motors before Roger Smith, CEO of GM, decided to save money by closing down all the factories in Flint and opening new factories in Mexico, where labor was cheaper. Therefore, laying off over 33,000 employees leading them to live in poverty and increasing the violence rate. Since the majority of the economy was supported by the jobs that GM provided for the citizens in Flint.

The entire movie is littered with anxiety. The movie makes you anxious as to what may happen next. This primary example is the scene where Skeeter ask Aibileen to tell her personal stories for the book Skeeter is writing. This rose a very serious anxiety in both women. Skeeter also found other maids to also share their personal stories. This scenario caused extreme anxiety because in that day and time if you were to publish or talk about what the maids have to endure, you could be prosecuted or maybe even killed.
The movie I decided to analyze for this course was American History X (1998), which stars Edward Norton. Though this movie isn’t widely known, it is one of the more interesting movies I have seen. It’s probably one of the best films that depict the Neo Nazi plague on American culture. The film takes place from the mid to late 1990’s during the Internet boom, and touches on subjects from affirmative action to Rodney King. One of the highlights of this movie that really relates to one of the key aspects of this course is the deterrence of capital punishment. Edward Norton’s portrayal as the grief stricken older brother who turns to racist ideologies and violence to cope with his fathers death, completely disregards the consequences of his actions as he brutally murders someone in front of his family for trying to steal his car. The unstable mentality that he developed after his father’s death really goes hand-to-hand specifically with Isaac Ehrlich’s study of capital punishment and deterrence. Although this movie is entirely fictional, a lot of the central themes (racism, crime punishment, gang pervasiveness, and one’s own vulnerability) are accurate representations of the very problems that essentially afflict us as a society.

Saajan, who is going through grief from losing his wife, receives the lunchbox. They end up communicating and helping each other with their problems through little notes in the lunchbox. They use the lunchbox as an emotional outlet for both of them.
