The Gifted Army Plan places emphasis on collaborating with schools and organizations. While attempting to acquire schools, it is important to have knowledge and understand the different types of schools and what they value the most. STEM schools and Montessori Schools both value hands-on and problem solving skills; however, these two schools vary in many ways, which can be critical in deciding which to target. There are many STEM schools/programs in the U.S, with more than 50 located in Georgia. The meaning behind STEM schools is in the name, which stands for: science, technology, engineering, and math. Students are encouraged to become creative and critical thinkers by using their own data and discovery to approach problems. The book does …show more content…

The components that make up Montessori schools are: multi-age student groups, uninterrupted blocks of work time, and guided choice of work activity. Since the book is a mixture of different levels, ages from 7 to 12 are able to work and learn from each other. In this classroom environment, students work to manipulate and investigate materials until they master the lesson inside. “Montessori students learn through sensory-motor activities, working with materials that develop their cognitive powers through direct experience of seeing, hearing, and tasting. In addition to, smelling, touching, and movement.” () The Spark Corps card game is quite similar to this teaching technique. The standards are the reasons behind every class lesson, movie viewing, and even fieldtrip. Unless the teacher can provide an acceptable educated reason behind a lesson that fits state standards, they are unable to do anything. There are hundreds of standards organized by each grade level and teachers in each county are given standards they must abide by.
