The professional standards commission for school districts develop and implement specific standards for all educators to abide by in alignment with its mission, vision and goals. The Code of Ethics framework outlines the conduct or behavior educations are expected to exhibit at all times. It protects the welfare (health and safety) of students as educators interact directly with students and pertinent student information. The Code of Ethics framework holds educators accountable and it conveys the sanctions for unethical conduct. The Code of Ethics for Georgia educators consists of eleven standards. The standards are as follows:

Alcohol or Drugs. This standard refers to educators abstaining from the use of alcohol or drugs not prescribed by a physician while in the presence of students. Unethical conduct includes being on the premises or attending school events under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
4. Honesty. This standard refers to educators exhibiting honesty and integrity in professional practice. Unethical conduct includes the omission, falsification or misrepresentation of information, whether personal or professional (degrees, criminal background, evaluation, personal leave (absences), and investigation).
5. Public Funds and Property. This standard refers to educators the management of public funds (collecting and receipting/depositing with accuracy). Unethical behavior includes the misuse of school funds, failure to account for the total amount collected, fraudulent requests for reimbursement of expenses incurred, co-mingling school/personal funds and the use of school property for personal …show more content…

Trustworthiness. Educators should demonstrate ethical conduct inclusive of honesty and integrity educational matters, fair/equitable opportunities for all students and encouragement of student honesty and fairness. Unethical conduct includes fabricating, neglecting or misrepresenting professional qualifications/history, criminal background, information to government officials, student/personal evaluation, and absences/leaves reasons.
3. Unlawful Acts. Educators should demonstrate ethical conduct inclusive of adhering to local, federal, state laws and statues. Unethical conduct includes any criminal act whether commission or conviction of felony.
4. Teacher-Student Relationship. Educators should demonstrate ethical conduct inclusive of nothing less than a professional relationship with all students at all times inside and outside the classroom, which includes nurturing the hold child (emotionally, socially, intellectually and physically). Unethical conduct includes child abuse (physical/verbal), child endangerment, sexual acts, discrimination of any kind, and any type of relationship other than professional and supplying students with alcohol or
