Modern Art And Modernism

Modernism was a widespread change that took place in the late 19th century that continued throughout the early 20th century. This changed the scientific discovery, political philosophies, industrialization, and the growth of urban centers. During this time art was filled with many new and different ideas and styles, which include painting, sculpture, and so much more. This allowed artists to be free to express their emotion in what they want to do within their artwork. In Paris this launched the movement called Impressionism. Impressionist techniques independently, each artist using short or broken brush strokes that barely take forms, unblended colors, and shadows and highlights of light. Its founding members included Edgar Degas, Vincent Van Gogh, and Auguste Renoir, among many other artists. Their work is acknowledged today for its modernity, which embodied its rejection styles of new ideas that illustrate modern life.

Edgar Degas was a French artist famous for his work in painting human figure in their motion. He was often known as an Impressionist, although he rejected being called that preferred to be called a realist. In each of his paintings he would express the harmony of line and stability of outline. One of his paintings is The Absinthe Drinker in 1876 as it is an oil on canvas. There are many impressionist painting techniques, though one technique Degas use is a snapshot. A snapshot is a painting that looks like a photograph of a scene. At first sight the impression of the portrait portrays an aspect of modernity. Modernism represents a shift amongst artists in wanting to create something new. This marked a new era in change within tradition that includes religious, political, and society that creates a new trend of ideas. This movement appeared in France during the late 19th century as a rebellion against the ideas of realism. Artist embraces society with new ideas in terms of social life and art. Modern pieces of art and music give a new free theme that was criticized by the people. Everything that is always inconsistent and always changing is modern.
