In this passage, Marcus Aurelius tells himself not to think that something is impossible to accomplish simply because he finds it hard, but rather, he wants himself to acknowledge that the things that are humanly possible can be achieved by him.
(Book:9 P.90 #33))
Marcus Aurelius thinks that there is no difference between living longer and shorter because of the fact that an individual cannot live forever and all the things a person gain or witness will one day eventually perish.
2. (Book:7 P.59 #7)
This passage make sense to me because in life individuals cannot prepare for unexpected challenges they will face. Therefore, it is hard for the one who is ashamed to seek help from others to accomplish tasks and succeed in

Playwright, William Shakespeare, in the play Julius Caesar, utilizes many instances of rhetorical devices through the actions and speech of Caesar's right-hand man, Mark Antony. In the given excerpt, Antony demonstrates several of those rhetorical devices such as verbal irony, sarcasm, logos, ethos, and pathos which allows him to sway the plebeians. The central purpose of Mark Antony’s funeral speech is to persuade his audience into believing that Caesar had no ill intentions while manipulating the plebeians into starting a rebellion against their new enemies, Brutus and the conspirators.
The New York Times article, Editorial Observer; Jay Gatsby, Dreamer, Criminal, Jazz Age Rogue, Is a Man for Our Times, highlights the actions of characters such as Jay Gatsby, Atticus Finch, and Holden Caulfield to the 21st Century. The article discusses how all three characters were listed by Book magazine to be names the Top 100 fictional characters since 1900. The character, Gatsby, was selected because of his trait to be the “cynical idealist, who embodies America in all of its messy glory.” The article continues on by stating how Gatsby would relate to a current American in today’s day in age. Many believe that Gatsby would be able to survive, and thrive, in today’s age knowing what readers know of his life in the 1920s. The author begins by
“The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom and before honor is humility. (Proverbs 15:33)” This Proverb is a part of a set of Proverbs in the Bible. The group of Proverbs is a list of essential life lessons. The proverb itself is used to foreshadow the rising and falling action. Jacques tries to gain honor and wealth through physical objects but learns that humility is more important and valuable.
Who wants to live longer? Everyone. Everyone wants to live as long as possible. An important
The idea of living a long life is one that many hope for. At first glance, it may seem as though a long life is ideal, but it is important to take a closer look into what exactly living longer means. In Ezekiel J. Emanuel’s essay, Why I Hope to Die at 75, he asserts that living too long is a loss because the quality of life decreases as the years go on. Emanuel firmly believes in striving for quality rather than quantity of life. Living past the age of 75 leaves the elderly lonely, diseased with mental disorders, and living life painfully ill.

Oedipus the king had a prophecy told about him by Apollo. The Oracle informed Oedipus of his destined future, which is to eventually shed his own fathers' blood and marry, as well as conceive children with, his mother. As the story plays out, Oedipus comes to the realization that he has indeed fulfilled the prophecy given to him. While he has the honor to uphold as king of Thebes, he disgraces his people with his actions of murder and incest. Ultimately, Oedipus character flaws do not help this satiation, because his lack of self-control and anger, impulsive decision to marry Jocasta (his mother), makes the prophecy come true.
The obstacles which we must face are not there to hinder our daily life. They are there to provide countless opportunities to obtain greater success. In order to be successful we must look at every obstacle as a new opportunity.
Words can have different interpretations depending on the person. One quote may have more of an impact than others. The search for truth is a task every human strives for in his/her journey. Each human is blinded from some kind of truth because they are shielded by parents or even friends. However, the blindness fails eventually and the truth is revealed whether one is ready to hear or not. In today’s modern reality the truth is hidden everywhere as society chooses to be blind in some cases. In Sophocles’s famous play, Oedipus Rex, human morals are displayed frequently using philosophical prophecies. Great philosophers and modern day scholars of society relate and empathize how the two terms are related. In the play, Oedipus is the king of Thebes described as being a leader with a hot temper and rage when deciding problems for the City of Thebes (“Kafkas Üniversitesi Akademik” lines 387-389). This temper had followed unpleasing words in which the oracle Tiresias told Oedipus. The information revealed a frightening prophecy to Oedipus which threatened his very own reputation. Tiresias, with a
Running away from any problem only increases the distance from the solution. That quote helped me a lot and motivated me to be stronger. It showed me that I need to face my challenges.
The writings by Marcus Aurelius, the only Roman emperor who also gained the title as philosopher, are one of the most unique in classic literature when considering the fact it was written without the idea of publication. Aurelius is an aspiring individual, who stands to remind our anemic and easily disheartened race how human goodness and sedulity should be carried. With this in mind, it should be substantial for one to read the Meditations by Marcus Aurelius when considering the writing techniques, and his use of self reflection.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. You playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We were all meant to shine, as children do. It’s not just in some of us it’s in everyone. And as we let our light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others”.
The amount of difficulty found in a given situation pertains directly to the amount of strength, both physical and mental, a person obtains. What is effortless for one may be excruciatingly challenging for another. Personally, learning to let people go when they no longer belong in my life is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Through situations I’ve been through, help I’ve received when discovering how to let someone go, and learning how to deal with this situation, I believe I’ve become a better person.
