Teen activists are ambitious, passionate, and brave people who help our world. These teenagers want to make a difference in the world, mostly for rights of other people. A few of these include Malala Yousafzai, Alex Lin, and Iqbal Masih. These three teen activists stand up for people’s rights and help make the world a better place. Malala Yousafzai is trying to allow girls to go to school, Alex Lin is trying to stop e-waste, and Iqbal Masih stopped child slave labor. He was also brave to run away and free child labor. Iqbal’s parents sent him away because his parents needed to pay a loan. Iqbal could not try and run away because the people would threaten the kids to throw them in boiling oil. All over the world, there are terrible things that have happened, but some people actually see them and have the courage to make the right change. Some of these people have even changed the way the world looks at things. Some great leaders and examples were Harriet Tubman, Melba Patillo Beals, and Malala Yousafzai. All of these characters had big motivations in their lives and felt the need to enact change. Harriet Tubman had lived through slavery herself and wanted to give other slaves the freedom they deserved. Melba was simply a highschool student who chose the long path of integrating an all white high school. Children need a hero who can show them to give back to their community, and Malala is an amazing example of giving back to her community, as she qualifies her community to be all children and women. Iqbal was born on Nov.9.1877 in Sialkot Punjab, British India. He died at age 60 on April 21 1938 in Lahore Punjab, British India. His father sheikh Nur Muhammad and his wife imam bibi were devoted Muslims and made sure that there 5 children follow their path to Islam (iqbalians). Muhammad Iqbal strong faith in Islam came from his childhood, and his strong faith really affected his style of poetry. His government recognized Allama Muhammad Iqbal as a “classical poet”. In 1889 he received his masters degree from the government college. (Aslan, 626). According to the book Tablet And Pen by Reza Aslan “7,000 verses out of 12,000 were written in Persian” (626) His first collection of poetry published in Persian is called Asrar-e-Khudi (meaning secrets of the self) and Rumuz- e- Bekhudi (hints of selflessness) (poem hunter). The significant events that affected his writings were the political events going on in his time. Muhammad was also involved in a Muslim League; he opposed the Indian involvement in World War 1. Iqbal wasn’t only known for his poetry but also known for his strong opinion towards politics.
Iqbal was an ardent Indian. He had a great regard and affection for his motherland. He wrote a lot about purely Indian subjects. His notable poems on these themes are: “Ravi”, “Hamara Desh”, “Himalaya”, “Taran-e-Hind”, “Naya Shivala”, “Rama”, “Nanak”, “Swami Ram Tirath”, “Hndustani Bacchon ka Qaomi Geet”, etc. These inspiring national poems tender Iqbal's love for his land of birth.
In the world, there are many heroes who have their foot prints on the pages of history. Many people have their own definitions and characteristics of their own heroes, and so do I. For me, I think a hero is a great leader whose will and determination is to bring the nation to its core, and change it for the best. Hence I wanted to highlight an Arabian Saudi youth figure, who with his determination has achieved many things that made the Islamic Arabian nation proud of him. He is Ahmad Mazen Al Shugairi, was born in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) in 1973. He devotes his time for the younger people, to help them mature in their faith, work and their knowledge of the world, in order to make it a better place. Mr. Ahmad is an influential man; in fact he has won “The most influential leaders in the world” award for the year 2013 (Facebook, 2013). Yes he is my hero, the person who has all the features that are available on my own definition form of hero. Good leader, with a strong self-confidence and an influential figure that wanted all the best for his nation, especially the Arabian Islamic nation.
