MIS stands for Management Information System; it plays a crucial part in the business because it allows the flow of information between all levels of management as well as the different functional areas of the company. MIS is made out of the Decision support systems, Knowledge management systems, office automation systems, Transaction Processing Systems and the executive support system.
MIS helps managers by delivering reviews on their performance so that the company can inspect and control its activities as a whole. The sources which are used need to be authentic and proven so that they will assist in the analysis of the data provided and decision making. They can be divided into two main categories which are Internal sources and External sources. The key source in internal sources are accounting records, they provide the details of past business transactions and are used to make financial reports. They show the current standing of the company, as in if the profit made losses or profits over the last few months but that is not the only thing that they show, they indicate details of products, personal information and details about an employee and many other things.
