Lady Gloucester His parties were grand. The ballroom of the great Dorian Gray held such opulence. Exquisite chandeliers cradling precious jewels strung down from the dome ceilings, art plastered every inch of every wall, fine leather shoes glided to the music, tickling the marble floor. There was no doubt that Lady Gloucester was out of her element. The annual ball of Dorian Gray was no place for a woman of her nature, but that was the beauty of witchcraft- no one would have the slightest idea. Gloucester blended in well, speaking with those of the upper class whom she had usually tried to avoid. She had been young and beautiful, and surprisingly a great friend of the adolescent Dorian Gray. But that was long ago, before the pure soul she had lusted over had been corrupted. It had been a week earlier when Lady Gloucester had seen the transformed Dorian Gray walking down the street with the ungodly Lord Henry as he fed on every word that reached his ears. A fire burned in the eyes of Lady Gloucester. She did not know this Lord Henry, but she knew he would be the perfect pawn in her plan for vengeance. The boy she had once known and possibly even loved didn’t even utter a word when he passed her frail body and familiar eyes on the road that day, and this made the old witch’s blood boil even more. Lady Gloucester observed Dorian as he walked about the crowd, unaware of her and her new façade. Dorian Gray’s face was not lit up the way it always had been. This intrigued Gloucester and made her wonder what was eating away at him. She watched as Dorian discreetly snuck away into his study, away from all of the snotty housewives and reputable cabinet members who mingled in the ballroom. She saw her opportunity, and she took it
