Stakeholders of the Situation There are different perspectives to consider in any situation; otherwise known as the people who are impacted in a situation. Different stakeholder in discrimination cases against the LGBT community include employers, co-workers, customers, the family member of the LGBT individual impacted, and the impacted LGBT person themself.
How the LGBT Community is Affected To find out how the LGBT community is personally affected, I turned to a member of it, Amanda Blair. I started out by asking her if she knew of anyone who had been discriminated against while at work because of their sexual orientation and she responded by saying how her friend had been harassed by another co-worker because she was bisexual. An Employer’s Impact
Employers can be impacted negatively by putting people in unfair situations. According to the Engagdet website, some business and employers can be sued in some situations. When homophobic, racist, or sexist remarks are made, businesses can be greatly impacted by potential lawsuits. Although interviewers are not allowed to ask the individual they’re interviewing what their sexual orientation is, according to National Public Radio some employers will take a step farther to find out personal information about their potential employees. Some job employers will search social media in search of finding information about their sexual orientation and other parts of their social life.
However, some examples of discrimination be seen as positive to certain employers. Many employers run their businesses based on their personal beliefs; for example, the Salvation Army runs off of Christian beliefs. In some cases, businesses can express their views and beliefs through their business. Sometimes these ideas are spread in either negative or positive
