In the play made by William Shakespeare, The Tragedy of Julius Caesar. Many of the characters stride for the title of ruler of Rome. After the murder of the previous leader, Julius Caesar. His apprentice (Marc Antony) and his Best-friend turned conspirator (Brutus), speak to the public from an attempt to win their favor. Brutus speaks about why it was needed to kill Caesar. However, Antony speaks to them on how the conspirators, like Brutus, are deadly and wrong. Assuming that these speeches were the final words of these characters before a new election Antony should be given the crown. The decision to appoint Antony the new ruler of Rome could be due to his overall speech about Caesar. He knew Caesar personally and worked with him. This is due to the fact that in Brutus’ speech he had the heart of the citizens of Rome. He explains to the people that he was being rational, Caesar was hurting Rome and he did what was best for everyone as a whole not one individual. He tries to convince them that he did all of this because that’s what the best option was in a situation that he was in. This logical approach makes him ideal for the new ruler of Rome and its people. Nonetheless, this idea is flawed. Because from the perspective of Brutus, he speaks of Caesar as if he was a bad ruler to the Roman people. However, Antony makes his words seem untruthful when he speaks of the things Caesar has left for the people of Rome in addition to the money. He states, “… Moreover, he hath left you all his walks, His private arbors and new-planted orchards, on this side Tiber; he hath left them you...” This shows that Caesar was not in a way detrimental to Rome, he was kind and beneficial to the
