As a student who is both fascinated with science and desires a career that is dedicated to improving people’s lives, the profession of optometry is a natural fit for me. Wanting to learn more about the profession, I began shadowing several optometrists throughout my time in high school and college. I shadowed in various settings, including two retail chain stores, an ophthalmology office, and a private practice. My goal was to soak up everything about the experience, learning as much as I could from the optometrists as they interacted with patients and assessed their ocular health. I was amazed at how much I was able to learn just from observing other optometrists! One of the most memorable experiences I had while shadowing was when a patient came in with shingles, which the optometrist, Dr. Chelsey Clemens, confirmed was spreading onto her cornea. Dr. Clemens promptly prescribed an antibiotic gel to the patient. It was exciting to observe this patient receive this much-needed care from her

In conclusion, she describes that her hope for future and importance of voting to democratic. She uses humor as an attention getter. Knowing the audience, she can use partisan humor to build a connection to the audience and score points against the political party. So, this attention getter is

ADHD is a common disorder that is usually first diagnosed in childhood. Society has made this a well-known trend. That children of all ages, cultures and color can be effected by this disorder. My god son Aaron is now 24 yrs. old. As a young child, he had a hard time adjusting. His mother could not cope at times. Aaron would run, jump, and pay almost no attention to his surroundings. His mother would refuse to use any type of medication. Although she felt at times that Aaron needed the medication, she refused. Why? As a parent, she believed that her child only needed guidance, and discipline to control some of those behaviors he was having. My god-son never used medication. Even though, “I felt like he needed it”! In 2007 2.7 million youth were reported receiving medication treatment. (CDC) The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, for “status purposes” to record, are always using data & statistics to widen their research.
Orlando Bowen is an amazing leader of compassion, resilience, and determination. His incredible speech about perspective and leadership was truly inspirational. With us, he shared his story of hardship. Instead of focusing on himself, he focused on how he could and has made a difference using his story to encourage others and educate youth on how we too, can contribute to society. I believe it is important to not only absorb the information that has been presented, but process it and put it into action. Through the presentation, we learned that doing what is right and can take great sacrifice. Once you have done what is right, you shouldn’t expect something in return or credit, you should do it just because it is the right thing to do. In our
He required 100% of my time. Doctors were on a behavioral watch. For your dismay my son flanked preschool! In kindergarten, he got officially diagnosed. That was the Aha moment … a generational trait of ADHD has been passed on 3 generations that we know. My father was hyperactive and very curious and impulsive. My brothers and sister, their own children too nevertheless my father’s extended relatives had the same ADHD traits too. My little princess came along and yes, she got it too! She was diagnosed at age four. As a mom, I was motivated to help my children to learn strategies to manage their ADHD. Counseling, tutoring, learning clinics, social
