Biomedical Engineering Issues Life is much easier thanks to the technology which is constantly involving. Biomedical Engineering is one of now a day’s major that is exponentially growing and having a great impact whether is health care or socially wealth. Biomedical Engineering is a field that is exponentially growing in health research. Biomedical Engineering is the combination of doctrines and problem-solving approaches of biology and medicine (Intro to Biomedical). Although is most commonly known for having a positive impact in persons and society, Biomedical engineering has a very delicate issue which is contaminated residue. Biomedical Institutions have the responsibility to strike this issue and eradicate to have a healthier place to …show more content…
One of the most important and delicate piece of equipment that a hospital could have is the X-rays and Ultrasound machinery(Krans). An X-ray is an imaging test that doctor used to view inside of somebody’s body without any incision being made. Although this might seem incredible X-rays are very delicate since they use certain types of light which could harm significantly human skin(Krans). Biomedical Engineers are engaged with the mission of providing new machinery more effective and less harmful. Sometimes this can be very hard to accomplish. Science is constantly evolving and new things are being discovered therefore more questions are being …show more content…
As a few hospitals are discarding waste in a heedless, disgraceful and unpredictable way(Mathur). Absence of isolation hones brings about blending of healing facility waste with general residue making the entire waste stream unsafe. Improper isolation eventually brings about an inaccurate technique for residue disposal(Mathur). Deficient waste administration can cause natural contamination, development and duplication of vectors like creepy crawlies, rodents and worms and may prompt the transmission of ailments like typhoid, cholera, hepatitis, and AIDS through wounds from syringes and needles tainted with human. Also, wellbeing dangers related with poor administration of biomedical waste, thought should likewise be given to the effect on ecosystem, particularly to the risk of contamination of water, air and
Waste management is an especially challenging issue of today’s society especially considering the heavy metals and biomedical waste produced within the profession (Muhameddagic, Muhamedagic and Masic, 2009). Dental practices also create large quantities of waste cotton, latex, plastic, glass as well as various other materials which all have the potential to be contaminated with body fluids (Sudhakar & Chandrashekar,
Following Baum’s reasoning, the Biomedical Model is centred upon the treatment of health problems. For example if a person has a disease or falls ill the Biomedical Model’s focus is towards the body’s physical processes, which includes biochemical, pathological and physiological (Fanany, 2012). This diagnostic approach involves firstly, locating the cause of the illness (the pathogen), and secondly, treating the illness accordingly using Westernised medical interventions (such as drugs or surgery).
According to Bureau of Labor Statistics, biomedical engineers “develop devices and procedures that solve medical and health-related problems by combining their knowledge of biology and medicine with engineering principles and practices.” Biomedical engineers are expected to have employment growth of 72 percent over the projections decade, much faster than the average for all occupations. The employment growth is very high even compared to other engineers.
Biomedical engineering, also known as “bioengineering”, is a branch of engineering that combines the design and problem solving techniques of engineering with biological and medical sciences to improve health-related and medical problems. Bioengineers have made many positive changes in many lives today. By designing live-saving objects such as artificial hearts, dialysis machines, and surgical lasers bioengineers have helped save many lives.
The reasons for the illness are not at the centre of the biomedical model. The biomedical model also receives the majority of government healthcare funding (over 90%). Furthermore, the biomedical model of health has been dominant for many years and played a large role in prolonging life expectancy, bio-living or living organisms and also played a role in medical science of diagnosing and treating disease. It is a community approach to prevent diseases and illnesses.

There are different types of engineers in the world. There are the engineers that analyze the mechanics of a system that make it function, engineers that apply electricity to improve our daily lives, and then there are engineers who develop solutions to solve human health problems. The term bioengineering contains both the words biology and engineering, meaning that engineering concepts are applied to improve the lives of humans. Bioengineering is the future to improved health and living styles for human beings. I am fond to bioengineering because it improves the living of people who are in a body that cannot satisfy their daily needs of simply walking or moving at ease. I have a friend that is incapable to walk; therefore he will be sitting down in a wheelchair for the rest of his life unless bioengineering will help him finally get up to his feet for the first time of his life. It...
My desire of studying biomedical sciences stems from my sciences interest, as it demonstrates a world not visible to the naked eye, plays a big role in everyday life. science specifically biology and chemistry are stimulating and challenging subjects , over the years of studying them ,my interest has increased because learning things about how our bodies function and how it relates to god’s creation is particularly interesting for me. I also find it very important because I’m Muslim. The biomedical science degree will open for me the door to learn more about the vast field of biology and its branches to a greater depth. I developed my knowledge in the science field by taking support classes in the lab at school; I was fascinated by how the body can function in different circumstances and the complexity of DNA, different organisms, chemical reactions, and also very importantly the mathematical aspect which gives me the chance to develop and use my logic and it inform me to new ways of looking at given problems.
...ow that the waste is not properly diminished by the use of traditional treatment processes (Han et al, 2005).
Many people don't know what biomedical engineers do. A biomedical engineer’s job is actually quite interesting. They analyze and create solutions to improving the quality and effectiveness of patient care. They also design technology to accommodate the needs of people with disabilities. They have a big role in helping people begin new lives. The main job of a biomedical engineer is to help create prosthetic limbs or organs for those who are in need of one.
Pollution is everywhere in this day and age. Due to the practice of medical waste incineration, that pollution is in the air, it’s in the water, and when it comes down to it, it is in our bodies. While it may not be possible to erase the damage that has been caused to the environment, or to cure the illnesses of those affected by it, it is possible to work towards revolutionizing the current manner in which things are done. The air pollution caused by medical waste incineration can be reduced, and with this, the amount of dangerous toxins being released in to the environment can be significantly decreased.
Firstly, the biodegradable waste needs to be segregated from the non-biodegradable ones. The further steps discussed here is taken forward with the biodegradable waste which if dumped in landfills end up generating hazardous methane gas, obnoxious smell, breeding ground for disease causing vectors like flies; and sometimes, even underground water gets affected adversely.
Waste management (WM) is one of the major environmental problems of Indian cities as well as other countries
Well, most people will wonder why waste management is an important topic. But, “Sanitation is the process of providing services and facilities that safely dispose of human waste and maintain public hygiene”. (Watson, n.d).
The solid wastes are produce not only by households; it’s contributed by hospitals and corporations. Hospitals throw away bandages, use needles and latex gloves, these items hospitals throw away daily all the time because they can’t be reuse for the safety of its patients. Corporations throw away a lot of waste as well such as papers that they use whether in writing or in projects. All of these leftovers after consumptions are waste that is produced by our daily actions.
