You might be wondering how hearing aids work. Well hearing aids make sounds louder so that if a person has trouble hearing can be able to talk to other people and participate in their everyday activities. Thank you to today’s technology hearing aids work with digital technology and they are now equipped with strong computer chips. A hearing aid has a couple different parts...Those parts are the earmold, ear hook, microphone,speaker, amplifier, and the battery. The hearing aid receives the sound through the microphone, which transforms the sound waves to electric signals and then sends them to the amplifier and then the amplifier increases the power of the signals and it then sends them to the speaker so the person could hear it.

Miller tried his best to make the electronic version of the hearing aid. The results weren’t as good as he expected they were horrible. The hearing aids only amplified 15 decibels at it’s most. Those 15 decibels weren’t good enough because the volume of a normal conversation is about 60 decibels and if one of the people is having trouble hearing the other person will raise their voice another 30 decibels.

Lee De Forest also had a role in the invention of the hearing aid because he invented the vacuum tube, he applied the 3-element tube, he invented it in the year 1907 in the Western Electric Company in New York City. And that was when he started producing the superior hearing aids in the year 1920. The hearing aids he invented amplified 70 decibels(dB) and they also had a higher response.The only bad thing about it was that it wasn’t portable.
