There's a substance in this world that can be mixed into brownies and edibles, smoked to relax your mind, or even be consumed for medicinal purposes to treat deadly diseases, such as, cancer. Some people can even grow it in their backyards. Have you guessed what this substance is called yet? Well, if you've guessed marijuana, you're correct. “Marijuana, which is also called weed, pot, grass, herb, ganga, and the all time famous terminology which is Mary Jane is a greenish gray mixture of dried shredded leaves and flowers of Cannabis satavia”. Research shows the average pot consumer spends between $1,000 to $ 2,5000 a year! This herb, is supposed to be natural and contains at least 400 chemicals. These areas are the cortex, amayglda, and the most important of them all, which is, the hippocampus. The hippocampus of the brain is so important because this area of the brain is where memories are formed. Forming memories is part of our brain's natural endocannabinoid system, however if there is is THC stuck to these receptors, your memories will not be formed properly or at all. For an example, let's use demonstration 5.2 in chapter 5 of the textbook. In this demonstration, 16 words are presented. Step 1 requires us to read the following words that are presented on the slide, then, take a break. Step 2, tells us to write down all the words we can recall on a piece of paper, proceeding on to step 3, we're instructed to identify words that appeared on the previous screen. Step 4 gives us words with blanks that require us to fill in the missing letter. The last step of this demonstration requires us to answer simple questions that have been taught throughout life ( e.g. name three different kinds of stores). In these 5 steps just discussed, a person who's had marijuana in their system probably would have been lost at step 2 of this demonstration. In fact, those who have come down from a high can't remember what they were doing, talking about, or even thinking about unless, perhaps, it was written down. Laced marijuana is a drug that is wrapped into another drug without any knowledge. There are four different unknown drugs that marijuana can be wrapped in, which are: PCP- laced marijuana, embalming fluid, fentanyl, and codeine- laced syrup. PCP- laced marijuana can cause violent behavior, slurred speech, and death. There are common causes of marijuana being dipped in embalming fluid to “increase the person's high”, marijuana dipped into this substance causes confusion and severe hallucinations. Fentanyl, causes slow speech and heart rate which also leads to death. Codeine- laced syrup, which is called fry, causes paranoia and schizophrenia because it is dipped into other PCP substances. These laced drugs, eventually fry the brain, and cause consumers to lose long term memory. Implicit memory task, or procedural task aren't easy to perform
