Bullying is a big issue in the world. People all around the world experience instances of bullying everyday. According to ABC news “Nearly 30 percent of students are either bullies or victims of bullying, and 160,000 kids stay home from school every day because of fear of bullying”. Bullying can lead to many problems such as depression, suicide, and an addiction or mental illness. Bullying is a big issue and we need to do everything we can to help stop it. Bullying in most cases can lead to sever clinical depression. A way people cope with their depression is by self-harming cutting, or hurting them selves in any way. Depression can change you completely into a different person. Bullying is the main cause of depression, and needs to stop. We can help stop depression by being nice! It is the third leading cause of death among young people between the ages of 10 and 24, amounting to about 4,600 deaths a year. Every year so much people that are being bullied kill themselves because of it. All these lives being lost every year for bullying is saddening. Parents need to talk to their children. Children need to talk to someone about bow they are feeling or what is happening. When parents and children don’t do this bullying will happen and can eventually lead to suicide.
Bullying can lead to some mental illnesses linked to clinical depression, such as an anxiety disorder or social phobia. A mental illness is a serious matter and needs to be treated as quickly as possible. Victims of bullying are at higher risk of getting a mental illness because of it. As it states in the No Bullying article “Serious Mental Illness”, has affected more than 9.6 million us citizens in 2012 alone.” Some severe mental illnesses can lead to substance abuse.
