Indonesian mask Description This mask is from Indonesia. It is a squashed-circle shaped animal mask, that has many different shapes combined into it. As you can see in the drawing, the expression in this mask looks very joyful and happy. But it depends what role it has, and how you interpret it. This mask could be angry, sad, surprised, or even frightened. There are many different shapes used in this mask, for example, the eyes are very circular, the teeth are pointed, and the rest is very swirled, and curled. Colours are very important and meaningful in the Indonesian mask culture, for example, red represents bravery, white shows sacredness or purity and green means fertility or everlasting life. 2. What materials and methods have been used. The Indonesian masks are usually made by carving wood with a carving knife. After the shape of the mask is made, patterns, markings and the design on the mask are carved with a chisel. The mask is then coloured and decorated. The Mexican mask can affect the viewers by making letting them interpret the meaning of this mask, because of its neutral feeling. Also this mask is used in traditional Mexican celebrations and events, so it would affect the viewers in many ways. Finally, the Indian mask, affects the viewers in many ways. Such as, bringing joy and happiness to the viewer by this mask, or depending on what role it’s playing, it could surprise or even frighten the viewer.
