Staff development programme is the part of nursing practice.In my work place we have a staff development coordinator who is responsible for continuing and in-service education programmes.In my hospital doctors and nurses are conducting educational activities monthly.Nominated staffs list are published by the staff development coordinator.This educational activities helps to improve knowledge,skill, and attitude of nurses of every level and it helps to change the attitude of nursing personnel and motivate them to work whole heartly.It helps to keep all the nursing personnel up to date with all the nursing technology and thus improves the professional

Over the past years, there has been a nursing shortage which has led to the need of more registered nurses in the hospital setting. This is the result of higher acuity of patient care and a decrease in their length of hospital stay. In order for the patients to get safe and quality care, the staffing, education and experience of the nursing staff needs to be made a priority. Because of the lack of nurses, patient quality of care has suffered.

The health care administrator must also focus on changes in insurance policies and rules governing the provision of medical assistance (Shi & Singh, 2012).
Managers also should participate and contribute to CPD activities themselves and shows example for staffs. They will not take seriously if they see they own manager did not participate in CPD activities as managers supposed to be their role model. For example, my managers have training planner yearly, and allocate time frame for CPD activities, perhaps monthly, one nurse in the department should attend CPD activities (Appendix 4). My manager encourage us by taking alternative measures so that CPD programmed are taken seriously among the staff. For relevancy of CPD activities, the contents of the CPD activities should be relevant for current practices.
